They were very specialized in the realm of horses and became such a strong Empire due to the fact that they had the leader Genghis Khan who riled up the nomadic people to come together and create an empire. Genghis Khan lived from 1162 to 1227 being the reason why the Mongols became such a superpower of the time. They did not last very long however.
