Our red car line encompasses all of our K and PK students. We have a lot of those little guys! :) We put them on the northside of our building due to location. We have 280 students in those two grade levels. It is the closest entrance for our youngest students. We felt like getting them closer to their classrooms at arrival and dismissal was the safest thing we could do due to the amount of students. We also have parents coming from West Elementary due to waitlists.  All of our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders are at the blue car line over half of our other student population. The line at the blue car line looks shorter but we have the same amount of students (technically) that goes on that side. They are much faster unloaders than our younger students. So I realize the red car line is slower than the blue car line but it is totally to keep our youngest students safe. We have shaved off 10 minutes in 5 days and anticipate that to keep getting faster as our younger students become quicker. 

Some reminders for all students at arrival car lines. 
  • Please be ready to get out of the car. Backpack on, lunch box in hand or in backpack, and good-byes already given. 
  • If your car is at the unloading spot and your child can unload themselves please have them do it. We can aid them or close a door if needed. 
  • As long as there is a car line your child will not be tardy; however, we will get faster. Friday we were finished by 7:54. Way faster than last week. Yeah! 

A few reminders about carline in general. 
  • Please do not use any streets other than the ones designated for carline. I’ve sent emails with maps out and they can always be found on our website. Stadium should only be used for PK and the 1 block for K-3. Do not enter our carline from Stadium. 
  • Do not use Bixby to enter our carline K-3. Buses use this road and we block their route if we use this road. 
  • Do not block any driveways of our neighboring homes.

We've had a fire drill already. This safety drill involves students sheltering in place. We reminded the students this was just a drill. No active threat was present. We will encourage students to log their reading at school by filling our a construction paper heart. We will have simple but fun incentives all year to encourage students to read but also ENJOY reading. The students can read anything that they enjoy and doesn't necessarily need to be at their level.
