In traditional Korean culture, boys are often privileged over girls. I saw this happen a lot when I visited my relatives as a child. My aunt would serve food to the my uncles and even my 8-year-old nephew before the women. When I talked to my parents about this, they agreed that this was an unfair and outdated tradition. I decided that I would teach my own children differently in the future.

Something that has always made me lose track of time is reading a good book. There used to be days where i could read from the moment i woke up to the moment i fell asleep. Whenever i had gotten fixated on a book or a series, I could only think about reading it. I enjoyed it so much. But much has changed since then. I have less time on my hands, more homework to do, i have to work on my Eagle Scout project, and other things. But if I find a good book, I will still make time to read it.

Since we were younger, I have always had one particular friend of mine by my side. There were points in time where we would drift apart slightly, but we had always remained friends. They have been a huge part of my life and have gotten me through some tough times that they might not even know about. They have done so much for me without fully understanding or knowing about it.

One thing that has led to some personal growth for me is boy scouts. Going through the years while doing it has let me learn a bit more about myself, and has let me learn how to be a leader. It has taught me how to work together as a team with my peers and work to something greater.

I have had to go through a major obstacle in my life when my boy scout troop closed. I had to find a new troop and I had a hard time learning to work with the other scouts in my troop. This struggle stunted my progress to Eagle Scout, but it was also a growth opportunity for me to learn to work with people I don't know.

I have been interested in engineering since my brother went off to college. He had gone to school for Aerospace Engineering, but I have been more interested in other fields like civil, mechanical or environmental. He has always been a big influence and inspiration to me over the years.
