I think that the UBC learning gives everyone many opportunities to participate in volunteer work. So I think that it’s helpful to increase places and people who are volunteers. Normally it’s hard for me to find places where is related to volunteer works. So I want to join this community.

I think the UBC Learning Exchange helps students learn participatory and justice citizenship. Matt’s talk showed that we should work with communities in a fair and reciprocal way. My takeaway is that global citizenship means respect and fairness, not only giving help.

I agree with that the UBC Learning Exchange helps UBC students to be better global citizenships, because they promote to connect us with the Downtown Eastside issues and be a personally responsible citizens through the volunteer work.

And also, in Matt’s presentation, I learned that the Downtown Eastside is said the poorest area in Vancouver, but they are connected by strong community. I want to know more about how he helps them.
