It was the weekend, my family and I were eating these little treats called "Bon Bons." We heard a knock at the door, and when we opened it we saw one of my dad's friends. He was holding a dog, and apparently it was ours now. The dog was very shy at first and would hide under our beds, but he soon grew close to us. I don't know if we named him immediately or a few days after, but we ended up naming him "Bun Bun," after the treats we were eating the night we got him. 
I actually knew him before hand, he was a little brown dog at my dads friends house. We connected when we saw each other and that was really sweet. To say the least, my dad wasn't a good person, nor a good father. He was arrested, and is still in prison till this day. 
This really changed my perspective on relationships, family life, and my overall view of my childhood. It especially affected my mental health. She died of cancer, her death was really unexpected. It started with my grandma's stomach hurting, then she went to the hospital when it got really bad. The hospital told her that her cancer has reintroduced, and was growing rapidly. A few days after this announcement she passed. I don't know if she died painlessly, and I don't know if she heard my last words to her.
I miss her so much, I regret not spending much time with her.
Her death has influenced and changed me, I've become more aware of the cancer that runs in my family, and I've changed which engineering job I've chosen to pursue. I want to become a biomedical engineer, and make those in hospitals better in overall health.
