When Talking about Helix by Banana Yoshimoto, the big thing that seems to catch everyones eye is the age gap. Age differences in some places don't seem to matter as much as they do in others. For example in mexico there are some people who are like up to 10 -15 years apart. However in this generation the age gap/difference is something big. Ageism has to do with the "discrimination" of someones specifically towards age. In Helix there is an age difference, however if they were to assume or they knew it is now considered "ageism". Discriminating their age difference would be the act of "ageism".

When choosing the social issue and deciding something I could relate to my life I honestly struggled. However when I sat down and thought about ageism, personally have not had that in my life but always thought about my grand parents age difference. Like I had stated previous in mexico an age gap isn't that big of a deal. My grand parents have a 10 year difference between them. As the "newer" generations come age gaps start to become a big thing to some people, some people only get together with people with maybe 2 years max. which is what lead to me to this topic, because although it is non of my business its something I have always thought about.

Like I stated before although it has nothing to do with me an age gap is something I've always seen with my grandparents. It's just something I've thought about in the back of my head.
