to apply specificity in training sessions it will be done by giving relative exercises to specific sports such as bodybuilders will be doing weight related exercises to build muscle strength rather than agility. to apply progression into training sessions you will be increasing the work that you have been doing such as weight training you will increase the weights gradually over time or reps and sets. this is done gradually because it means you avoid injury and stress on the muscles, if you did jump from light to heavy it will be too much for the muscles. muscles need rest. to grow muscle you need to damage them which is done by exercising. in the time that the muscle rests they repair the muscle fiber which increases the size of the muscle. if you don't rest your muscle will experience muscle fatigue.

The referral process Stage 1 initial screening process- Client with a specific health condition, or presenting with risk factors (inactivity) visits GP or health professional. Stage 2 referral professionals- the professionals will check the information and the assessment of the patient and will then decide whether they meet the criteria to be referred on Stage 3 referral conditions- If the conditions that the patient have meets the criteria of a certain group then they would confirm the diagnosis and treatment would begin.Stage 4 exercise prescription- It is decided usually after baseline testing and physical activity questionnaire. The prescription must not have any side effects which could affect them when exercising.Stage 5 recommended guidelines- They are given guidelines that they must follow and stick to. Stage 6 monitoring- The client uses the prescription over a series of sessions and they are monitored throughout.

What opportunities are available?
Age UK have set up a programme for people 50+ which is walking football. Its normal football, but you’re not allowed to run. This is because elderly people are more fragile and could have a higher risk of having a cardiac problem. It is advertised in the local newspapers, on social media and has been on TV. Clubs are around the country and are available to everyone who is 50 and over. The Football Foundation and Sport Relief also provide funding for these sessions to take place.

Where are these opportunities
There are walking football clubs all around the country. In Welwyn there is one local. On their website there is a search bit where you can see what support is near to you. More than 20 professional clubs have created a walking football club. More than 1,000 older people take part across the country, with clubs such as Everton, Spurs, Liverpool, Blackburn and Fulham all running similar schemes.

What equipment is available?
At walking football all the equipment is provided.
The principles of training are: Specificity, progressive overload, rest and recovery, FITT, reversibility and individual needs. The specificity principle means doing the correct and relevant exercises for the specific sport, for example rugby players will do weight based exercises because its very much needed in the game of rugby.Progressive overload is simply increasing and improving what you do over time, for example in the gym you could be doing 3 sets and 10 reps on 14kg bicep curls, next week you could increase that to 3 sets and 12 reps. Rest and recovery is when allow time for your body to rest, repair and also restore itself following the exercises/workouts you have done.
