Beginning:

Jude sits on the ground drawing pirates quietly in his room. An argument with his brother drives him to find solace in his safe place, high in the branches of a beautiful fig tree. Up there he takes a deep breath and notices a hint of salt in the air. The wind picks up and the leaves rustle and begin to move rhythmically like sails. Soon the branches change to pine and the deck of a ship appears beneath him.

Middle:

Captain Jude was now the master of his own ship and able to explore and seek adventure across the endless stretch of ocean. Exhaling slowly, Jude absorbs the beauty surrounding him, the expansive horizon, the clouds scattered across the sky and the dolphins that leap from the sea and playfully surf the loose waves rippling from the stern. No conflict, no tightness in his chest, here he felt free. However, an unexpected sound disrupts the calm and a menacing shape outside threatens to steal his fig ship. Captain Jude will not surrender and must find a way to defeat his fears in order to save his sanctuary.

End:

When Captain Jude confronts his problems, he is surprised by the outcome. When a bottle with a message washes up against the ship, he discovers the struggles he faces in life are worth fighting for and only make him stronger.

I originally began by using my oldest stepson for the footage even though it did not match the previous two, however I discovered hurdles along the way. For example my son could not stop laughing, which took double the time and he's left handed so his arm or hand was always in the way of the camera.

After viewing my footage I decided to re-shoot the sequence using Harry (who was previously unavailable).

When I was editing I was able to capture extra footage for sound and angles. I noticed when listening to my video I had left the heater on, which could be heard in the background and was quite distracting. I was able to remove most of it but had difficulty during the scene I increased the speed. I would love some feedback.

https://adobe.ly/2PRVNy5

Based on my storyboard I have put a lot of consideration into my locations for my film. Important factors for me was convenience (due to my busy schedule and responsibilities) but also what would work best to represent my vision.
Because my characters are children (my kids will be playing the parts), I wanted an environment they would feel relaxed and comfortable and where we would have the advantage of location accessibility.
The film was based on a story I had written when I was 16, however I adapted it to fit in with my current circumstances.
Working through this location audit has made me consider challenges I may face producing this, so I have scouted a number of location potentials for the ship scene, which will be outdoors on a ship playground.
