Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863 in Michigan. Ford was always fascinated with how stuff worked and at the age of 13 he would fix watches for family members and friends. At age 16 Ford left home to be an apprentice as a machinist in Detroit where he learned how to operate and service steam engines. Henry came up with an idea for a horseless carriage and in 1896 he created his first model. To keep up with the demand for his automobiles, Ford created the assembly line which let him manufacture cars at a fast rate and sold millions of cars. Ford made his employees happy by letting them own stock in the company if they stayed for longer than 6 months and by paying them more than an average person would pay them during that time. Ford is remembered for his cars and being a business leader.
