Are there areas in my teaching I can shift? Absolutely! However, I must be willing to interrogate my instructional intent and the use of technology critically. I appreciate that the goal of the 4 Shifts is not to hit every aspect of the protocol every time for every lesson, unit, or activity. The goal is for students to have opportunities to experience each of the areas in the protocol multiple times over an academic year. Over time, these shifts accumulate and can have significant impacts on school learning cultures and climates, enabling me to proceed toward even more complex instructional work without having to do full-scale PBL.
