One scene that we were working on in the performance, but wasn’t added to the piece due to time management and the structure of it was messy. We wanted to do our version of Jeremy Kyle. The way we wanted do is by, interviewing Grendel which is the monster in the Beowulf story which attacks and kills a lot of people. The scene was going to end up by having Grendel attack the presenter and then running off the show. During the scene we wanted Grendel to act crazy so show that he not normal child.

I think the Quiz show hosted by Femi had to hone it to perfection, and make it more precise. The reason why I said that because when we had rehearsals, it was confusing at first. Femi didn’t know how to begin the show and end it, so we helped him and joined in to be the contest of the show. First, we had to cut down the minutes of the scene because it was too long.


Secondly, The Quiz show had to be linked to Beowulf because if we don’t do that, it wouldn’t make sense and the audience will be confused. We needed to have some comedy in it so we can keep the audience entertain. By doing that we used buzzers. During the scene I decided to use a lot of facial expressions to show that I know the answers of Femi question, but I was getting it wrong.


The news scene had to be spot on because it gives a message about one of the characters. In the Beowulf story Grendel was presented as a monster that kills people, but in our version, we located it in Liverpool saying that Grendel attacked a lot of people. We had to make sure the news music was on point so the cast were in the position. Also, removed some of the lines from the news report because it was too long to perform and plus we had one of us read from a table and the other one at the scene explaining what happened.

The Hereot hall scene was looked at the most because it the most important scene in the performance. I needed to make sure my physicality was right and the way the move was spot on.  The heroet scene is where it all kicks off and how Beowulf comes along and save the day so that scene needed to be at his best. We focused on the level 2 mainly because we needed them to move like they very scared of the person who is going to attack them and killed them.


We looked at the funeral scene because after we finish the Hit the floor ,it goes straight into the funeral scene. For the funeral we rehearsal a lot of time because we were asked to pick up Joff to put him in the middle of the stage so we can say our last words of the Performance. At first we struggled to pick up because we needed to find the right techniques, but eventually we got there at the end.

Beowulf, a hero of the Geats, comes to the aid of Hrothgar, king of the Danes, whose great hall, Heorot, is plagued by the monster Grendel. Beowulf kills Grendel with his bare hands and Grendel's mother with a giant's sword that he found in her lair.

The Task was to Use the Beowulf story but change it in our context to a modern day version. We started doing that by each person in our class had to create they very own padlet so we can add some ideas to use for our final performance. We had a meeting together as a class and went through our padlet to see what ideas we can use the show, all of us had some good ideas.
