As people say, the strongest depiction of how a life is, is with its family. With mine being prosperous, we mostly tend to live a cushioned life. This is not to say that we don't have any struggles though. Some struggles I face are within the school system in which I go, which is Hinsdale South. (School) When compared to other schools such as Downers Grove South or Hinsdale Central, which are some of the rival schools in the area, Hinsdale South tends have higher poverty. Additionally the school is behind in various categories such as absenteeism, graduation rate, etc. (Comparison) However, within my neighborhood there are many people that do great things that shape my life such as the after-school sports program that was connected to my middle school, Cass Junior High. (Darien IL) Often keeping kids from doing nothing after school or possibly causing trouble, the school promotes sports so that after school kids can do activities such as basketball, softball or even volleyball. I did a few of these sports, and I believe that these are some of the best things a kid can do. (Cass Basketball Example) I believe having a basketball team or any other sports team for that matter shows prosperity within a community because it can depict the kid's life in the future by possibly getting on a scholarship or even going pro. According to the data in my neighborhood, it shows a mix of poverty and prosperity around me in the economy. (Economic Data) Although it never tends to seem like that with everyone around us still having the things they want as well as having the things they need. In order to prevent possible problems from prosperity and poverty, I believe that the people of Darien and even Willowbrook should come together to often fix up parts of the neighborhood and make communities dedicate their time to helping people get jobs, finish school, and even help people work on fulfilling their own personal dreams.

Power and Authority

In my life people with power tend to be wealthy strong people that have a base of followers that believe in what they say. Some people that fall under this category are the government of the town I live in in Darien. (Darien Mayor) Another example is my parents who have wealth to buy me my needs like food, clothes and shelter. Even my school, Hinsdale South, holds power over me in order to make me do better in my academic life. Although in order to change the power system in the way that benefits everyone as people and not just certain communities there has to be some changes. One of these possible changes is letting people have more freedom in school by having the schooling system trust the students to be able to do their work on their own time and not have to enforce it all the time. I also believe within the government one thing they should do is create more communities that believe in cleaning up neighborhoods, creating more businesses and creating more houses to make our town bigger and more accessible just like big cities such as Chicago. Oftentimes the link between education And power often relies on the economic advantages, the social Power and political powers that the schools use in order to make kids stay in school and listen to their directions. I'm using these concepts of power that the school uses I will use all three of those categories to increase my power as I get older by being able to have wealth having advantages such as being able to control certain groups of people and communities as I'm older as well as trying to become a political power in order to be a more powerful person.

Oftentimes in my life things that shape my beliefs and ideas are my parents, occasionally the internet, my own personal critical thinking, and my religion. In the culture in which I live, many people share the same religion as me although do not practice it as much as I do, causing their opinions to often be different from mine. Often in my community though the main identifier in which people think is often political. People are mostly made up of conservative or liberal; and from my view I see a very 50/50 split between people and my communities being liberal or conservative. But often when engaging with both sides of people I get different world perspectives which benefit me in the ways that cause me to think more about certain situations or ways that guide me through life differently. For example I have some liberal ideas like gun control and climate change while I also believe in conservative ideas like capitalism and pro life only because of my religion. With my split decisions of political sides I find my self being more of a moderate.

On a daily basis technology guides my life in ways I sometimes don't realize. For instance this morning I woke up by my electrical clock and after brushing my teeth with an electric toothbrush. Some things like this are what people take for granted. And other technologies are used in my life like the obvious my phone, my tv and even the chromebook im typing this on. Every one of the technological advances used in everyday life aren't always beneficial though. For example many people vape using electronic cigarettes that cause cancer and destroy your lungs, or even xrays, which are double edged swords because many x-rays are helpful in cases of broken bones or dieasses but, prolonged exposure to x-rays can cause cancer as well due to its radiation. (X-Rays Risks) According to the amber blog some impacts of technology to the gen z community is the need for cyber security, impatientents and even lowered attention span. These impacts lead me to believe that most technology use in younger generations will lead to more and more problems. Overall technology is progressing and is always in discussion if it's beneficial or harmful and in my opinion it's a very split concept although these big tech companies wont stop marketing to us for as long as we live so we should stop fighting it and just hope these companies don't use their power for evil.

In my life culture does not fully guide me as it does other people, although some cultures that do affect me mostly consist of Irish culture and a small bit of Mexican culture. Most of my family is Irish which led me to going to many Irish parades throughout my life as well as celebrating St. Patrick's Day is a little harder than others. As well as celebrating my Irish heritage, both sides of my family have come from Ireland which makes me a third generation American citizen. Otherwise I don't have much more culture besides my dad's side where my family has some Mexican heritage, and we often eat Mexican food during reunions. Within these cultures though I find my Irish side more enjoyable because the Irish people in my family tend to be a bit more prideful of their culture then my Mexican family members. And on the other hand I dislike the fact I don't get to fully celebrate my Mexican heritage as much because I don't see that side of the family as much so I don't get to fully enjoy it. One fun fact about my Irish heritage is that the Irish community is the 2nd largest community in the USA. (Irish Culture) And one fun fact about my Mexican culture is that music like mariachi bands are the biggest identifier of culture within the Mexican communities. (Mexican Culture) Finally one thing I often think about is that in the cultures I celebrate, my generation’s pride of nationality is often different from past generations. In ways I notice were as I said before how my family in the past were from the country Ireland; which obviously is way different from the USA because In Ireland everyone celebrates their culture in huge parties because everyone is Irish! Obviously in the USA not everyone celebrates Irish heritage because not everyone is Irish.
