In June 1896 De la Rosa lead a petition against the government to hold the quadrennial contest for the pensiado-ship to the Madrid Art Academy. The petition was approved but the Revolution delayed the implementation of it for the next two years. In April 1898, there is still a Revolution, but despite the Revolution, De la Rosa won the scholarship.

It is the oldest textile art in Southeast Asia found in a wooden coffin in Banton, Romblon, with white and blue ceramics. These kinds of cloths, today, are used as wall hangings, bed covers and sometimes even table cloths but its sole purpose during the Pre-Colonial period are known to be death wraps. 

The shroud was woven from red, black and white abaca.

At present, they use colorful burial cloth to wrap the dead.  It is an abaca weave dyed via ikat (or Indonesian) depicting humans and reptiles. It's a decorative art (weaving/textile) with it's kind used as furniture as well. The cloth was found in the 60's and dated around the 1250's, used as a wrapping for the dead.

He was named as the father of Philippine painting for he established the first art school in the Philippines back in 1821. He introduced the western style of making artworks to the Indos in those times. The Angono Petroglyph is a recent archeological breakthrough during the 80’s that has been discovered in the mountainside of Angono and Binangonan by Carlo “Botong” Francisco. It is a stylized anthropomorphic and zoomorphic forms etched on the rock wall.

The petroglyph cave is near Laguna, Binangonan and Angono, Rizal—cities and towns known to be havens of artistry and wood carvings. The conservation and site development of the petroglyph was supported by the World Monument Watch Fund and the Department of Tourism. A Manunggul Jar is a type of burial jar made by the early Filipinos during the late Neolithic Period, about 890-710 B.C.
This artifact was found in the early 1960’s in Manunggul Cave, Lipuun Point, Palawan by Dr. Robert B. Fox and Miguel Antonio in 1962. This is considered as one of the most important national treasure in the Philippines.
