The Athenian government allowed free men to be citizens. Every student could take part in the government. A group called the council of the 500 would meet everyday and would discuss new laws and daily government business. then the laws they would make their would be taken to a larger group of Athenians. As you can see the main thing the Athenians focused on was communication. In Sparta, they would have a group called the oligarchy. They would be focused on military strategy and they would pass down to a smaller group instead of a bigger one.

The economy in Athenia depended on trade. Athens made their own coins to trade with and they were made out of bronze, silver and gold. On one side of the coin it had a picture of Athenia the goddess, And on the other side it had an owl. In Sparta the economy didnt depend on trade it depended on conquering its neighbors and farming. And instead of using coins they used heavy iron bars so people couldnt be able to steal so easily.

Education in Athens was not that difficult. Boys and girls would be taught differently because only men were allowed to be citizens. So boys would be taught about politicians and girls would be taught at home and and learn how to take care of the house and family. Education in Sparta was very different. Spartan boys would be taught how to fight at a very young age and were made sure to know how to handle pain and not cry. Meanwhile girls would also be taught at home and would learn how to take care of the house. Although some girls would also learn how to fight so when the military needed them they were ready.

Treatment of women and slaves

In Athenia only men would be citizens so women and slaves were treated less then men. Women wouldn't be able to own very much land. Just like women, slaves would stay at home and teach girls how to maintain a household. Some women couldnt even choose their own husband. But their were some slaves who worked in silver mines. In Sparta women were treated sorta the same as men. They could own as much land, they could marry people multiple times. Slaves would help fight in war and as a thank u Spartans would be set free once again.
