Sculpture as a fine art is not highly concerned with representing reality. What makes sculpture a fine art is its capacity to represent beauty. Which is established through the cohesion of all the elements of a sculpture such as its proportion, symmetry, texture, use of lines & colors, and etc. Hence, figures of non-living objects can also be considered sculptures as long as it is aesthetically pleasant to the eyes. 
2. Sculptures and Statues are different. Although they are both 3-D and made from a solid object, Sculptures should represent beauty through its elements which was mentioned a while ago.

There are different types of sculptures. Namely 3-D, Relief, Luminal, and Mobile. Furthermore, aside from Carving; Modelling, Casting, and Assemblage are also methods in making Sculptures. Which points out that making sculptures is not just about carving solid objects to form shapes.
