Indonesia is one of the countries that most of the citizens use transportation, either it is public or personal transportation. Most people in indonesia use motorcycle’s as their daily transportation mainly because most people in indonesia cant afford a car. Some people in indonesia also use their personal vehicle to do thier jobs like : grab, Gojek, and Maxim. Besides from cars and motorcyles, Indonesia also have many kinds of public transporation like : Trains, Shuttle bus (TransJakarta, Damri), MRT, Becak, and also i what we call in indonesia as angkot (Angkutan Umum) and also Taxi’s. Nowadays, i see that so many people prefer to use online taxi’s instead of normal taxi’s, mainly because people said its way affordable than a regular Taxi.

In indonesia, traffic is not really good compare to other countries, because people in indonesia always break traffic rules like crossing a red light, not wearing seatbelt, and also reckless driving. Since than, the priminister in every city of indonesia have put some traffic rules in order to make trafic in indonesia better than before.

There are lots of transportation that we have here, including, motorbikes, cars, bicycles, and taxis. There are definitely some flaws on using a public transportation wether it’s on hygiene or time, some are late and it’s definitely not something that we’d want, but there are definitely problem and it’s an undeniable fact that Indonesia has a good transportation system but just not as good as some other countries.

Indonesia as a developing country which cannot escape congestion in both big cities and medium cities, starting from main roads to alternative roads. The impact of congestion occurs as an increase in transportation facilities is not matched by road expansion and integration between public transport.Congestion is a condition where you experience various types of problems that result in a decrease in vehicle speed under normal conditions. Congestion will be very detrimental for road users, because it will hamper their travel time.Congestion will continue to increase every private vehicle is increasing every day. Increasingly congested roads in urban areas are caused by the use of private vehicles using public transportation. The high use of vehicles cannot be separated from the increasing number of motorbike loans which can make the public interest in public transportation services more and more decreasing and in fact will cause congestion because the number of private vehicles is increasing every year.

Indonesia one of the most many culture in the world, Indonesia also have many transportation in it. For example Becak, Bus, ojek, cars, taxi, train and other transportation. Transportation is a a way that we can move to another places or moving things to other places, transportation also make us everyday use to it.

For example cars, we uses cars for driving, pick up things bring us to school and others just within the nearest places. But if bus is a public transportation that everyone can use and must have a card for using bus. Most of it have in the capital city. Like Bus mostly have in the Jakarta, Jakarta is one of the capital city in Indonesia.

Sometimes in the vacation especially in Indonesia they can ride a horses, and can ride a wagon in Bahasa we called as (Delman) almost similar to becak. But becak and wagon is different type but the same function. Ojek, now are days many people using ojek aplication to buy this, that, those, these and others. or even can using ojek online to go to work and also can go to somewhere else but sometimes it’s not must we drive by ourself.

Congestion In Medan, Indonesia

Medan is the capital of Indonesia’s North Sumatra province, the third largest city in Indonesia , which is also the center of government services, education, health, industry, and others and that caused Medan to be a city whose economic level is getting higher, which resulted in an increase of mobility transportation.

Overall, it caused an imbalance between the level of traffic demand and traffic supply that must be faced by the transportation system. Nowadays, Medan is still experiencing severe congestion. This is due to the overcrowded population and private transportation demand.

“Sudako”, share taxi and cycle rickshaw are the most common public transportation in Medan. These transportations caused traffic everywhere and every time. The driver of share taxi will just stop anywhere and anytime they want to transport passengers and drop them off, for example. This results in other transportation having to stop suddenly and wait for it to go off the way. Although, In fact, other vehicles could have just pass the road beside it, but it cannot be done since the share taxi does not stop in side of the road.

Actually, using public transportation is way more effective and cheaper. It reduces pollutions, traffic, also create a healthy and clean environment, but since it is not well-organized, many people prefer to have their own private transportations for the sake of their comfort, hygiene and other several reasons.

To conclude, using your own transportation is much better for today’s condition. In addition, since the people do not want to obey the rules, it is hard to reduce some problems faced. If you are wise enough, follow the rules and choose the right path to help Indonesia to develop and improve.

Complexity in Indonesia's Transportation

Transportation in Indonesia as the year progressed seems to be more complex. There are improvements, so does the concerns. With the increasing availability of online-based services for transport like Gojek and Grab, making it easier for people to simply order a transport service on the go. Public transportations that had been established long ago like trains, buses, taxis, are also improving in terms of regulations and appearance. However, there are many more things that we need to take a note while observing Indonesia’s transportation system.

For example, traffic. This is a very common problem especially in larger cities, due to a larger population. That’s one of the factors, but there are many others factors that causes congested traffic. In terms of people’s obedience, in my opinion even though the government or any official organizations has set up a certain regulations that needs to be obeyed—in this case, public transportation—a number of people in Indonesia might act ignorant and violate the rules, which may cause inconvenience to other people who followed the rules. This can be found inside the public transportation itself or on its special sidewalks, where some of them are used for street vendors.

Furthermore, accessibility in Indonesia’s transportation should be discussed. There many transportations available in larger city. However, sometimes they are not accessible to people living in smaller cities, or territories with lesser people and lesser technology improvement. People who can’t access public transportation or unable to afford a vehicle of their own might experience more struggles if they want to travel or going anywhere out of their territories.

Indonesia’s transport system has improved over time, however, it is said that Indonesia still has some issues regarding this.

A transportation expert says that there are 3 major problems of the transportations in Indonesia. Firstly, the infrastructure and public transport are not as sufficient and effective as of now, making citizens have a preference of getting a private vehicle. Secondly, the government does not limit the use of private vehicles, encouraging citizens to use more than one vehicle having the same destination. Thirdly, Indonesia still lacked the services and facilities in providing citizens with private vehicles.

As a result, more and more people buy new vehicles while public transport gets desolated and unused. Especially when new innovations are appearing, such as gojek and grab, people are relying more on these apps. This encourages more people to work in these companies, resulting to more vehicles bought.

Not only does this increase the traffic around Indonesia, especially cities which have large populations, it also decreases people who use public transport, such as becak, sudako, buses, trains, etc.

To conclude, the transportation system in Indonesia is still in need of some improvements as public transports must not vanish since there are citizens who cannot afford their own private vehicle and the traffic system could worsen.
