With the ällman kurs, we face - sometimes from the beginning of the course, different levels within the group. We can have beginners and some who are fluent or very advanced in the language.
We've experienced some frustration, lack and/or loss of motivation, or even jealousy, because some students felt "blocked or stopped" in their learning. On the other side, some of the students felt not good enough.
So, as teachers, how can we manage these differences and find a balance to deal with it?

- Individual studies

- Guided self studies: 1 lesson/week where they work on their own, focusing on their goal(s), skills, likes and dislikes (But it means that you need to know your students, to give them, what they really need).

- Create different activities which show the different abilities of each student. Ex: "In the groupe, who knows/can do this or this?"

- Team building, value each other.
- Every student brings 3 new words to the class: it creates interest, you bring something to the group and shows language abilities.

- Give the students responsibilities, let them be autonomous. Ownership.

- For the homework: when they have a writing task, do not correct their mistakes, but underline it.

- While doing an activity, prepare 3 different questions, not focusing on academic all the time. Ex: description/analyze/critical view.
The students who has "less" level will do the first step etc...but everybody participate. (Oscar quote: " we sneek in the back door")
It will help all the student to fell part of the group.

- We can give extra homework to those who want/need it.
Ex: prepare something for the class, writing tasks, grammar...

- It helps the students to not feeling apart. (+)
- They have an input. (+)
- It doesn't lift only the good and not always the knowledge. It helps the students to realize they can do something, they can dare to talk and not be afraid. They can develop more. (+)

- It 's more work for the teacher who always has to think, or to balance his/her work, propose different tasks and activities. (-)
- Considering everybody can be problematic, more difficult than it seems. Furthermore, we may not be able to see the difference between the students, "loggom".
