Now she has grown and feels she is right.

This shows the protagonist's connection with her immediate family in the story which leads to key events in the text. Due to the protagonist betraying her parents trust via going to her friend's (whom both parents didn't think too fondly of) house, she got sent away to a more "wholesome" environment with her grandparents.
