Rigor: This is a summative essay and this student product will be used to evaluate the student's ability to master the common core informative writing standards. Additionally, students will be evaluated using the 11th Grade SBAC Informative Writing Rubric.

Product: Students will compose their essay in a Google Doc. The teacher will provide feedback and comments on the Google Doc. Additionally, students will create a Google Slide show, where they will include the main ideas from their essay and visuals. They will add both the essay (Google Doc) and the presentation (Google Slides) to their e-portfolio.

Reflection: Students will reflect using the current reflection template on Google Drive. They also have the option of researching a famous Hispanic figure and creating an altar for him/her.

Rigor: In addition to the digital altar, students will write 2 paragraphs to describe the person being honored, and to explain each element that is included on the altar. The significance of traditional items must be explained in order to demonstrate their cultural awareness of the tradition.

Product: Students will create their virtual altar using Google Docs or Slides, or a website such as Canva. Students are welcome to use other programs that they are proficient in, such as Photoshop. Google Docs will be used to write the paragraphs. Both the altar and the paragraphs will be uploaded to their Google Drive.

Reflection: Students will present their altars to the class and will evaluate the presentations they see in class.
