Then I saw the booth for the Archdiocese of Baltimore.  I had been so nervous talking to the representatives at the other school systems, but a wave of calm came over me when I was at the AOB booth. I had a feeling that God wanted me there. Consequently, I did not apply for any other school system, and just completed my 20th year of teaching. I love that I can bring my kids to school with me and see them in the hallway every day. I am the product of public schools and didn’t become Catholic until we had been married for 10 years. When the opportunity arose for us to enroll our daughter in a brand new Catholic school, we jumped at the chance. A year later, I was given the opportunity to teach at the same school, and was able to enroll our older children as well. I love being able to share my faith with my students everyday and the sense of community and belonging that comes with teaching in a Catholic school. In turn I believe the children are able to focus more on their studies rather than the fights/drugs/bullies etc. I’m not saying that the catholic school is perfect it’s just that these problems are less tolerated so the children are less likely going to partake in those activities. The ones that do are removed from the school. Aside from that is of course the religious aspect of it. The prayer, and the values that religion enforces into the children is important to me.
