I would emphasize the last point, I know that each teacher needs to cover some areas based on their lesson plan but we have to keep in mind that the point of a lesson plan is to help students to understand the point in an easy way and in the case mentioned previously students have troubles because they couldn't memorize some content, so what's the solution? in my opinion, I'd create some exercise to practice in class and leave homework to practice and at the beginning of my next class as part of warm up I would try to review the previous topic to see if they really understood what be have seen or we still need to work in some areas of opportunity.
