Khan, after her execution, was awarded a medal by King George VI for "courage in circumstances of extreme danger." Even though this was a great honor (even more so if she had been alive to receive it) she did not do her work for shiny objects and prestigious titles. She did not risk her life for fame or money. She did it because it was right and because it wasn't easy. I think that everybody needs this mentality. The purpose of doing something good - something courageous - is not for the benefit of your own life, but for the benefit of many and for a better future. As cheesy or fake as this may sound, there are far too many people who work hard for money, for fame and publicity. Noor Inayat Khan was not one of those people. She risked her life for a community of oppressed people - the Jews and people outside of the Aryan race. And she did not have to.
