Khan was determined to continue her work, even as she knew it could easily lead to her capture and ultimate death. The world was at war, and she felt that her work was not as dangerous as the work being done by soldiers fighting against the cruelty of the Nazis. As long as they were fighting, she would be fighting as well by method of telegraphs. Something about her personality and necessity of her line of work made her able to acknowledge her fear and the fear of those around her, and then continue to do a dangerous job.

Gad Beck remained in Berlin during the Holocaust even though he was Jewish. He was able to stay due to the fact that he is a child of a mixed marriage and was not deported to the east when other German Jews where. He had a whole lot of friends who where put in camps. This gave him the idea to get involved in an underground system which helped Jews escape to Switzerland.
He was able to get friends to help him bring food to people who needed to escape Germany. In 1945, a Jewish spy betrayed Gad and a whole bunch of Gad's friends. He was then interned in a Jewish transit camp in Berlin.
After the war, Gad helped organize the immigration of Jewish survivors to Palestine which he soon moved to.

Mala Zimetbaum is famous for her escape from the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland. She started her life in Poland in 1922 but in 1942 she was taken to a concentration camp and was designated inmate No. 19880. She was a privileged inmate because she spoke several languages. She used her high up position to help other inmates. In 1944 it all changed because Mala met Edward "Edek" Galinshski who was planning a escape. His plan was to disguise him self as a SS guard and pretend that he was escorting Mala to install a washbasin and then escape in to the rest of Poland. In June the plan was put into action and it went well. Here starts the many conflicting stories. Some stories say they were captured after buying something with gold. Some say they were arrested at the border trying to get out of Poland. All that is know is that they were captured and sent back to Auschwitz and put in block 11. They were both executed between July and September the exact date in unknown. Mala was sentenced to be hung but on the way to the gallows she cut here are veins with a razor blade. She was then sentenced to be burned alive in the crematoria. Here there are a lot of conflicting stories. One says that she was burnt alive. One other says she bled to death on the way to the crematoria. Yet another says she was shot in the crematoria. There is also one that says she died from poison ether in the crematoria or on the way. There are also sever conflicting stories about her last words. The most popular story is that her last words we "I fall a heroine and you will die as a dog."

And she "spoke out" as someone who was not Aryan, thus compromising her safety even further.
Khan, after her execution, was awarded a medal by King George VI for "courage in circumstances of extreme danger." Even though this was a great honor (even more so if she had been alive to receive it) she did not do her work for shiny objects and prestigious titles. She did not risk her life for fame or money. She did it because it was right and because it wasn't easy. I think that everybody needs this mentality. The purpose of doing something good - something courageous - is not for the benefit of your own life, but for the benefit of many and for a better future. As cheesy or fake as this may sound, there are far too many people who work hard for money, for fame and publicity. Noor Inayat Khan was not one of those people. She risked her life for a community of oppressed people - the Jews and people outside of the Aryan race. And she did not have to.
