The mangroves are forests consisting of tropical mangrove trees that have adapted to life in salty water. These forests play a crucial role in coastal protection by preventing erosion and acting as a natural barrier against storms and flooding.

The mangroves are also an important habitat for many animal species, including fish, crabs and seabirds.

Today, we took a fascinating educational boat trip to the island world of Guadeloupe, which is protected as a national park. We learned how mangroves grow and the significant contribution they make to oxygen production. Additionally, we had the opportunity to explore the life of hermit crabs and learn how they settle into new homes. There was also an international exchange between the teachers. We thank the seminar leadership for this fascinating day!

Today, I learned about the Grand-Cul-de-Sac-Marin Lagoon, an exceptional natural reserve classified as a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. I learned a lot about mangroves and coral reefs, which have very important ecological functions, such as protecting the coastline from erosion, providing habitats for many species, and supporting marine biodiversity.

Today was a special day for me. We visited the Grand-Cul-de-Sac Marin lagoon, an exceptional natural UNESCO WORLD BIOSPHERE RESERVE. I learned about the underwater world of coexistence. I was fascinated by the magroves trees in the midle of the sea. The tropical mandrove trees have adapted to life in salt water. It's a remarkble connection with nature. Today I had the chance to see the teeming sea life. The underwater world here is rich in bioversity and offers glimpses of coral reefs and tropical fish. I felt truly conected to nature and to everything around me. Because of the integrity of the environment, visits are regulated to ensure that everything nature has to ofter is preserved.

We have enjoyed the beautiful unspoilt nature and sincere congratulations to Rita for the wonderful days enriched by all that sorrounds us.👍🙏

Today we visited UNESCO biosphere reserve. It was surreal to see how mangroves can live and get the water from the sea. What was also spectacular, was the fact that the hurricane made a new island. It took the sand from another one and created new home for animals and plants. It was amazing trip which I will never forget.

The biosphere reserve Cul-de-Sac Marin, off the coast of Basse-Terre, shelters, among others, breath-taking ecosystems of coral reef and mangrove forest – both prime examples of specialization, adaptation, diversity and coexistence in nature. We all had some degree of understanding of both, but experiencing them first-hand was an entirely different kettle of fish (and other sea creatures). This was deeper and inspirational. Transversal educational issues in themselves, these sea worlds, located amid multicultural human worlds, offer countless starting points for acedemic initiatives focused on all the key competences, from scientific to linguistic to digital to entrepreneurial. It does not get better than this.
