(2nd of July) Diary entry #1

On the 2nd of July, the class was divided in two moments, one before and the other after the break. We discussed about five concepts:

1. Plurality

2. Interdependence

3. Commitment

4. Criticism

5. Transgressiveness

Me and my group (Emily, Jessica, Julia, Keylla, Mariane and Vitória) did about commitment - we summarized about it in this short paragraph: “How much effort you put into something, dedication, promise, responsability, desire to work hard and give your energy and time to do what you aim. You can commit to something or somebody. Sometimes it is necessary to choose our priorities and commit to what is within our reach.”

teacher Renan talked about how "it goes beyond our examples, such as: peer review, our self-reflection, speaking out, asking questions"

It was an important moment for socialization - since i don't know all my classmates yet and exchanges, since we got to discuss each other's topics.

After the break we realized a survey about the Student's role, and even though in this part I spaced out - viajei na maionese legal - I do recognize the importance of it, since we need to always reflect on ourselves and the learning process, on how we need to be active in our own learning journey.

We started the class answering the question "How was the experience of reflecting on your class participation?"

lots of opinions, in majority positives, mine in particular was how I saw and understand both moments, also reflected on how I could've participate more in the second moment after the break

Professor Renan during the class gave the following inquiries "será que fui um aluno que se desafiou? me coloquei como participativo e produtivo?"

And gave a quick feedback in general, about how this diary is about registro e reflexão, como o conteúdo da disciplina contribui para você, professor em formação and insights. Which I thought was really interessing since having feedbacks is very important specially for me since I find writing a very difficult task.

The second moment that I decided to chose is when we were divided in groups, mine being group 3: belief three - learners need explict instructions

"our beliefs are implicit, and they guide our intentional actions"

Belief one: Learners need choice - reflexão sobre as diversas formas de aprendizagem

Belief two: the need of time to practice - multiple opportunities to try

Belief three: learners need explict instructions - go beyond a list of exercises, never assume that the students already know something - jogos dinâmicos (soletrando, ensinar sobre regras), vídeos tutoriais, time stamp

Belief Four: Learning is social - importance of socialization in education

Belief Five: Learners need feedback - the importance to see feedback as something positive

And what I got from this moment was the importância da colaboração, since just like a student will learn, a teacher will also keep learning, either through mistakes or right decisions and practices.

The process of talking in public is hard, and I could feel the anxiety before the presentation - not only mine, but the whole group as well, even while being a teacher I still get kind of nervous before presenting something and my intention was to give my best "teacher's voice" and be clear about the message my group as trying to give. I always think that I could possibly do better, but I'm glad that I tried.

First group:

Third group: mine!! we talked about a video of Professor José Pacheco, and some aspects that we discussed about.

Teacher Renan asked us about the importance of the process until the apresentation and a interesating moment was when Nicole said that the most challeging part was talking and listening to different perspectives, and I wondered how much I'm able to listen to opinions diferent than mine.

Fifth group: cansaço precoce nas crianças, senso crítico - the slides had a lot of text, which made it difficult to read, and they realized it, and was a interesting moment to see because there was no need to a professor point it out.

importância das matérias que estão sendo excluídas.

In this class we received a brief feedback on our apresentations and a explanation about how the "rubrica" worked.

An interessing moment for me, was realizing during the survey about the apresentations that it's easier to evaluate my group's performance and participation that mine - meaning I'm more critical about myself that others, specially because I believe that everyone gave their best considering their conditions, which would probably put me in a hard position when grading others.

After that, we did a quick recap on the escola tradicional and escola do século XXI, which made us think in various aspects, my group thought on some characteristics and the challenges that come with it.

After the break we participated in a palestra about pedagogias queer - ministrada pelo professor Felipe Trevisan

"constituição do conhecimento"

O que é queer? Ótima pergunta! Não tenho 100% de certeza

Mas!! Entendi que a teoria queer rejeita as nomenclaturas. Contesta os conhecimentos e as hierarquias sociais dominantes.

Luiz said he was a little bit queer (just wanted to keep record of this moment lol I wish I was as brave and extroverted as him)

Força reiterativa x força subversiva (not really sure what to write about that, but I found interesting)

"Como eu me desenvolvo em um ambiente que não me sinto confortável e seguro?"

Trabalho do educador como “resistência e insistência”

Conceitos a pesquisar: interpelação, atos de fala (Austin, 1962), cotejamento

At the end of the presentation I had more questions than answers, but I think that this is the point of talking about your research, talking a little and not deeply about it and even Felipe Trevisan is probably still searching for some answers. It was a great talk and I'm really grateful for the opportunity (Thank you Professor Sarah and Renan!! - não estou sendo puxa-saco, eu juro). =D

Today our class started with a sermão about how most of the students hadn't sent the diary entry - and I was super chill because hehe I do all the entries! and actually enjoy doing it (surprisingly).

When we were talking about the text, Luiz talked about the use of technologies and said how he's used to it - and THEN,,, Victoria said "mas letramento digital não é sobre isso" e eu soltei um UUHHHHHH - kind of embarassed now but! the moment was a great opportunity to discuss e enfatizar a importância do uso da ferramenta de forma crítica.

The class started with us picking sticks and letting luck decide our destiny - I was in the blue group beside Emily Andrade, Maria Fernanda, Nathalia and Gabriel - then we went throught stations - that worked the text the we were supposed to read for the class, but most didn't D: (including me ugh sorry, professors).

Then we saw a video about what is Projeto Político Pedagógico and studied a PPP from Ibiporã - answering 6 questions (with the same group from the first dinamic) so we read and aswered - which was a little intimidating since PPPs are a quite long document depending on the school, o que faz total sentido visto que ele é o “alicerce” da escola.

This class felt a little frustrating, and this will probably sound more like a rant but dealing with first years can get a little tiring - não consigo imaginar como os professores conseguem ter tanta paciência - cobrar trabalhos e lembrar os alunos da própria responsabilidade?

In my first graduation I had a professor who said that “Tudo que fazemos é para a construção nossa como profissionais” e isso me marcou muito - enfim, estou desejando muita paciência para mim (!) e para vocês, queridos Renan e Sarah.

And let the new bimester begin! :-)
