Taking this class was a fantastic experience for me. My writing ability has improved elevenfold and I feel much more confident as well as aware of more technical side of writing. I'm glad to have taken these classes, but I'm honestly sad that we're finished and won't be meeting anymore to learn and discuss. Thanks, Mrs. Minor!

Looking towards the future

I'm unsure, but since taking Comp I and II with Mrs. Minor I've decided that I want to study writing and literature much more. I've always enjoyed reading and writing but I thought I'd be good with just getting the basics taken care of. Guess not!

I loved our discussions and hearing so many different opinions. I also really enjoyed the activities we did, and if I can use something from Comp I, learning about and making kamishibai's was especially unique and fun!

Honestly, just be active in the class. Giving yourself enough time to really participate in the assignments and discussions is much more fulfilling than rushing through to complete a class. Make sure and ask for help or clarification if you're unsure, and learn to rely on your classmates. Also, be willing to help if someone is struggling to understand. We need eachother to succeed.

If I had a do-over

If I could do these classes over (and I kind of wish I could just keep taking them) I would be quicker to get to know everyone, offer assistance, and ask for help. I also wouldn't wait until the last minute to start on some of my projects. :)

"Gaudy Night" by Dorothy Sayers and "Going Home" by S.J. Rozan were my favorite stories that we read in Comp II. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed both. "Gaudy Night" for depth of character and setting, and "Going Home" for brevity and weight. And I'm not baised just because "Going Home" was mine!! :)

A challenge

I've always journalled, so I'm used to just writing whatever is on my mind. One of the most difficult lessons for me was to become critical of my own thoughts. Not everything that comes through my head is worth putting nto a paper. I feel editing my own words is something I've become much more comfortable with over the course of comp I and II.

A skill learned

Hmm, choosing is difficult. I feel I've learned a few dozen new skills, to be honest. If I had to break down and pinpoint something specific, I'd just have to say that everything I've learned combined has helped me to think much more critically, and I know that will serve me well in the future. Also, just learning the techinical aspects of writing I'm sure will be very helpful to me from now on.
