Hannah Senesh grew up admiring her father and his writing. He, unfortunately, passed away when Hannah Senesh was just a child. Senesh then lived with only her mother and brother until she decided to become Zionist and immigrate to Palestine in the year of 1939.

In the year of 1943 Szenes(Senesh) was asked to join a clandestine military operation. Senesh then became a member of the Palmah. Later, in March of 1944, she was dropped into Yugoslavia in order to aid anti-Nazi forces. This made many admire her bravery.

Senesh was brutally captured in June after entering the country of Hungary, she was then sent to a prison in Budapest. In this prison she was tortured beyond belief. Still, after facing much torture, Senesh remained. The Hungarian authorities then , cold-heartedly, arrested her mother as well. Her mother, like Hannah Senesh, remained silent and stood firm in her belief to save the Jews. Hannah Senesh was then given the choice to beg for a pardon, yet, Senesh chose death by firing squad.

After Hannah Seneshs' brutal death, her mother was determined to keep her daughters' memory alive. She did this by publishing many of Seneshs' beautiful writing pieces. This included; poems, plays, and even her diary from when Hannah Senesh was inly 13.
