He also set fire to the constitution because he believed that it did not outlaw slavery.

I believe that Hinton Helper should be fifth to the left because he believed that slavery was hurting the whites more than the African Americans. He also believed that poor whites that could not purchase their own slave, could not compete with the wealthier plantation owners. So Hinton Helper decided to write a book that really did not benefit the Anti- Slavery community. It rather revealed his own point of view on slavery.

I believe that Abraham Lincoln should be in the only mix part of the spectrum because even though he was partly against slavery, on how it shouldn't expand and how everyone should have equal rights, he did not interfere with slavery in the south during his presidency. He was more worried about the Union rather than freeing the slaves during the Civil War.

I believe that John C. Calhoun should be in the far right of the spectrum because he believed that the states should have the right to decide whether or not slavery should be in their state. During his lifetime, he spent time arguing that congress shouldn't have the power to decide whether or not there should be slavery in a certain state. He once attempted to rally all Southern Congressman to go against any/all Anti- Slavery people.

I believe that James Kirke Paulding should be second to the right because he believed that slavery maintained order to the U.S and helped preserve the Union. He also believed that Abolitionists were Un- American radicals that were set to destroy America by causing tensions and problems between the free and slave states. He wrote a book that criticized the Abolitionist movement. In his book, he obviously defends slaver. He uses points/ pieces of evidences from the Bible, The Constitution, Property Laws, and the Southern laws that protected slavery.

I believe that George Fitzhugh should be right next to Abraham Lincoln because he believed that the Northern and British working classes would have a better system under slavery. He also believed that a society ran by slave owners/ masters would be better than a free society. He wrote pamphlets such as "Slavery Justified" and "The Failure of Free Society". In the pamphlets, he talked/explained that slavery should continue and that it was good.
