The foreigner, being from the West, expects to be able to purchase everything he wants, not realizing that the horse statue may have cultural value to the local people in the town. The culture in rural India is also apparent through the way that the locals react to a foreigner in their small town.  They cannot understand practically any English, proving that they are quite traditional and have their own unique culture that has not been westernized.

Muni who is of in Dian culture values the statue and is emotionally attached . He is not wealthy or of a high status and shows that he doesn't take money for granted. For eg. He has to support his family with food.
