In today’s age of technology there are a lot of different apps/programs we can use to help with health education, disease management etc. iPhone Health App is one of them. The Health app makes it easy to learn about your health and start reaching your goals.

https://www.apple.com/au/ios/health/

1. It’s very easy to use iPhone Health Apps. You don’t need to have high level of computer literacy to use this app

2. The creator or provider for iPhone Health app is Apple Inc, for iPhone users, apple watch. They are very trusted source.

3. iPhone Health App is and can make a difference or be helpful to people in managing their health as the app lets you keep all your health and fitness information under your control and in one place on your device. iPhone Health app makes it easy to keep tabs on a wide array of data that matters to you — from blood pressure and blood glucose measurements, to weight and reproductive health records.

4. Yes, I would definitely recommend iPhone Health app to my nursing colleagues or patients as the Health app highlights four categories: Activity, Sleep, Mindfulness and Nutrition. Each plays an important role in your overall health and in the app. Health suggests great apps from each category to get you going, and the Today view shows all your stats at a glance to help you stay on track. Once you start using the Health app, there’s no stopping you.

Technology is becoming a major part of the everybody's everyday living. No doubt in the future everything will rely on technology eg. bank cards already being used on mobile phone so you don't have to carry the card around with you.

Yes apps on iPhones are really easy to use, type in what you are searching for and click on the icon. I would not say you need a higher level of computer literacy, but would need to know how to download apps on an iPhone. There are many ways on finding out how to do that on google.

The provider is Apple which is a major technology source and are trusted through many of their devices and applications. They set up a personal identification account for each individual and inform you if someone else has accessed your account.

Yes I think it could make a difference to people that wan't to manage their health; as it involves a person's physical activity, sleep activity, mindfulness, nutrition needs, heart rate and can set goals to the healthy person that you want to become.

Yes I would recommend it to a colleague or patient as I have used the app personally and thought it was fantastic. It made exercising and health fun, also pushed you to your striving goals. :)

Lumosity offers an app for iOS or Android or is available online. It is super-easy to use with clear navigation and a nice, clean interface. As this is designed for people to improve their mental agility, it is fitting that it does not require a great degree of computer literacy to use.

Lumosity is a private, for-profit company, therefore the downside with this app is the cost - around $80USD for a year's subscription.

I think this app would make a difference because it is lots of fun. People could quite easily forget they are exercising their brains and use Lumosity simply for pleasure.

I would heartily recommend this app to anyone who could afford it as I think the mental fitness aspect of dementia prevention is often overlooked. Along with the usual suspects: smoking, alcohol misuse, poor diet etc... lack of mental stimulation is known to be a risk factor for dementia (Dementia Australia, n.d.).

References
Dementia Australia (n.d.). It’s already installed in your iPhone and is easy to navigate with pictures and only four tabs. You will not need to be highly computer literate to be able to use this app.

2. Apple Inc. is the creator. It is not a resource for health information, but more for the health data collection purposes.

3. This app could be a very useful tool for managing health. It can record blood pressure, heart rate, weight, BSL in one app. If you are diabetic, or have high blood pressure, it is important to have these data to keep an eye on any changes. Since many people use a mobile phone everyday, it is easy to input and/or review the data.

4. As mentioned above, if the patient already has an iPhone and is diabetic, I will recommend start storing the data on this app, only when the patient is not keeping the record currently. If the current method is working for the patient and it is sufficient, there will be no need to change the method.

Med helper app is available for all devices both ISO and Android. First impressions, the app is basic with clear navigation reflecting its purpose. Working through the app I found it very easy to use and feel you wouldn't need a high level of IT knowledge to use it. To put this app to the test I asked permission to go through it with a patient on prac. This patient was being discharged and was renowned for not remembering to take medications, make a note of regular medications and failed to attend appointments. This app worked really well they only down fall was the patient didn't have a phone at home were they could continue using the app. The patient felt it made taking medication really easy and also put all information in a central place if there was an emergency.

Earth and Flare inc. created this app. It is not a creator I have heard of before nor has it got many reviews. However I feel the concept is excellent and would be beneficial to many in the community. There are so many incidences of people attending appointments or ED and have no idea what medications they are on or how many times. This app allows all the information to be in one place allowing ease of access for medical staff. I feel initial set up would be time consuming but once done the upkeep would be simple. I feel by incorporating an app like this in communities would assist greatly in medication compliance as well as less incidences of under/overdosing.

Based on what I have seen of this app and the trial performed with a patient. I would definitely recommend this app to someone who I feel would use it to its fully capability. I feel this app could make a daunting task into a simple part of life doing all the thinking for you as a consumer. I really like the notifications this can remind patients of everything medical, appointments, tablet times, prescription renewals etc. I feel this app takes away all those common excuses you here to why a medication hasn't been taken.

https://www.medadvisor.com.au/Home/Landing

1.
The MedAdvisor is a medication management app and is a great way to organise and track your prescriptions and medications as well as increase medication adherence. It reminds you when to see the Doctor for a new script, when to take your medication and when to fill your repeats by linking it to your favourite pharmacy. If you are a carer for someone, it has a "carer mode" so you can easily manage someone else's medication. Other features include script history and medication information and a GP link for script renewals. It is available on IOS and Android and is easy to use however, you must have a smartphone.
2.
The app is created by MedAdvisor International and has great reviews and testimonials on their website. It is reputable for both Healthcare Professionals and patients. There are links to their privacy policy and terms and conditions for using the app.
3.
The app will make a difference to the patient and/or a carer, as it allows for the management of medication in a single place. It has a tap to refill feature so it saves time waiting at the pharmacy for prescriptions. It allows the pharmacy to assist with medication reviews and adherence to medications.
4.
I would recommend this app to anyone who takes regular medication. It is a good tool for Healthcare Professionals to recommend especially if they are caring for patients who are regularly forgetting to take their medication. The only downside to this app is you need to have a smartphone however if you have a computer at home you can access MedAdvisor through the web.

The main contents on the app are: diseases and injuries, drugs and alcohol, life and death, population groups, prevention and treatment, risk factors, spending, and what lies ahead. This makes it very easy to navigate around the app. After you click on one of the categories on the contents page, it will present another list to further define each group. For example, if you select “drugs and alcohol”, another list of sub-categories will present, which include “alcohol use”, “illicit drug use” and “tobacco smoking”.

When you enter into the topic of interest, it very clearly states facts, statistics, any risk factors associated with the issue as well as disparities between population groups. It also provides links if the reader would like further information. It allows you to save your favourites, participate in a quiz and gives you a very quick overview on our population’s health.

2. The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) are the provider of this source. They are funded by the Australian Government to monitor the health and welfare of the Australian population, and are a very reliable source. They aim to provide up to date, reliable and relevant information using data that has been sourced by a number of national collections, as well as the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), and other appropriate data collections.

3. I don’t necessarily think that it would benefit an individual in managing their health if they have been diagnosed with a chronic illness, however it does provide information on prevention and treatment. For example, it provides information on vaccination services for the prevention of infectious diseases and viruses. It also provides a link for further reading to the Australian Health 2016 e-book for further information. It would more benefit a health professional who aims at educating an at risk health recipient on statistics of risk factors, that can help to prevent a chronic condition such as diabetes or cardiovascular disease.

4. Yes I would definitely recommend other nursing students to use this app for the learning component (I am keeping it on my iPhone), as well as other healthcare professionals. I would also recommend a newly diagnosed person to use it as a resource to learn more about their illness and its treatment, or particular risk factors to aid in prevention of an illness. I find it very user friendly and easy to read and I think it caters to both healthcare professional and consumers.

I went with another app not on the list provided, hope this is okay? Too important not to share!
1. Is it easy to use- do you need to have a high level of computer literacy to use this or not? This app is a must have for all ages with a smart phone. Young children with minimal literacy skills can call emergency services by pushing one button.

2. Who is the creator/provider- are they a trusted/educated source? Developed by Australian emergency services, governments and industry partners. Trusted.

3. Do you think it would make a difference/ be helpful to someone in managing their health or for health professionals to use -why ?

This app is useful in emergency situations rather than management of health, but I thought it too important not to share, particularly for those who live in rural and remote areas. This app uses a built in GPS function and allows you to pin point your exact location, whether it be a motor vehicle accident or helping someone who's having a seizure in the street. This app eliminates giving vital location information nearest cross road etc., for which younger children may not be able to do.

4. Would you recommend this to your nursing/health colleagues or patients to use-why?

Yes, I recommend this app to everyone, especially young people who have just got a drivers licence. (If a MVA occurs on the Great Southern Hwy, it’s approx. 60klms long, looking for a rollover can be difficult particularly at night).

5. Outline your findings for the rest of the class…

This app could save your life one day, its free and easy for all ages to use, once downloaded open the app and in the case of an emergency press either of the three buttons the 000 button, give your exact coordinates to police, ambulance, royal flying doctor, fire and rescue emergency services. The SES button which is the state emergency service or the Police button. The app will give you your latitude and longitude GPS coordinates. I am unsure if this app works without wifi, having not had to use it in a remote area.

Another TIP not related to thisapp – Iphone users (not sure about android or Samsung) free emergency calls can be made from your mobile – on the pin screen bottom left corner is the word ‘emergency’ press this, make an emergency call from here without knowing the pin number and if you have completed the emergency contact information (I know you all have as nursing students) nursing and medical staff can access this in ED, it will inform of your name, DOB, organ donor status, medical conditions, notes where current meds should be charted, allergies and reactions, weight, height and your emergency contact person. If you haven’t already done this please do it now, do it on your family members phones too.

NUR329 Week 4 Incentive Activityhttps://www.diabetesaustralia.com.au/diabetes-australia-app 1. This app was very easy to use and you do not need to have a high level of computer literacy to use this.2. The creator is Diabetes Australia and they are a trusted and educated source.3. I think this app would be really beneficial to someone who has recently been diagnosed with Diabetes as there are plenty of healthy recipes, news articles and fast facts which would help. 4. Yes I would recommend this app to my nursing/health colleagues and patients as it is easy to use, educational and relevant. 5. I especially liked the recipe section as people who have been recently diagnosed with Diabetes might find the diagnosis overwhelming and do not know where to look for something as simple as what to eat, therefore the recipe section makes it easier for the consumer to eat healthy and hearty meals which are Diabetes-friendly.

RHD App by Menzies Health Researc

· Is it easy to use- do you need to have a high level of computer literacy to use this or not? I have access the RHD website as I was trying to do the Health Workers Module and I have come across their useful health apps and I thought there is no better way to use this for my Activity 4. With regards to the app’s usability, it is not difficult to use it as its similar to other app and is available in Android and IOS which means as most people use Android and IOS mobile phones, its availability is present in both of these system. It would not be called a mainstream app, or interactive gaming apps, it is an app that is also working similar to a diagnostic tool so if I was not enrolled into a University subject, I will not able to come across this type of app. I would say that in order for target groups to become aware of it that health workers would introduce or mention this app to their target groups: young or old.

· Who is the creator/provider- are they a trusted/educated source?

The creator of the app is Rheumatic Hearth Disease Australia based in Casuarina NT

· Do you think it would make a difference/ be helpful to someone in managing their health or for health professionals to use -why ? Definitely, I believe that this app would be able to manage someones health as the app has a website where the person can read further about the app, its guidelines and as well that the app has a diagnosis calculator which has a text and visual reference both interactive for each stage of the diagnosis.

· Would you recommend this to your nursing/health colleagues or patients to use-why? Definitely, the app is available via wifi internet at home and mobile, it works on both mobile system and it doesn’t need a lot of processors for it to run so it can be run on any type of mobile phone devices even on the discounted prepaid mobile devices so with this, it is available on any demographics who can access a basic mobile device. It also does not need a lot of graphics card power to run, its very interactive and colourful. It is part of everday use so that disease progression can be minimised.
