Topic: Starting a conversation with a stranger and keeping the conversation going.

 

Engage: Students are divided in 2 groups (1) Men´s group and (2) Women´s group. 

Situation: You and your friends are at a restaurant and you see a groups of men/women. You want to talk to them and for this you have to decide:

-       What person in the group is going to start the conversation?

-       What is he/she going to say?

Time: 5 minutes

 

Activate 1: Imagine someone approaches you and begins talking about:

-       Weather

-       Things around

-       Asks a question

 

The group has to think what is the best and politest way to respond to conversation starter.

Time: 10 minutes

 

Study: Students are given activities from the CLMS where certain expressions to respond to a conversation starter are given. These expressions will help them solve the previous challenge easier.

Time: 15 minutes

 

Activate 2: Using the expressions studied previously, the groups solve the challenge keeping in mind that they have to keep the conversation going either with the group of women or with the group of men.

Time: 10 minutes

 

Peer Assessment: Doing the role play of the situations, the groups will assess their activity. 

-       Was the response to the conversation strategy effective to keep the conversation going?

-       Were the expressions used appropriate?

Time: 10 minutes

Talk about Jobs

Discuss future plans using

the simple present in if and time clauses 

 

 

Engage: T asks students about what are the worst jobs in the world. A YouTube video is shown in class: ‘The top 10 worst Jobs ever’ ".  T leads the activit. 10 minutes.

 

Activate 1: Vocabulary about jobs. T shows images of Jobs taken from the lesson. Do you know any of these jobs? T writes on the board a brain storm about jobs. 10 minutes.

 

Study: To develop the study guide where students will practice vocabulary related to "jobs". Students complete a chart with who.. has an interesting job, rewarding job, etc., Ss work in pairs and exchange info  20 minutes

 

Activity 2: Ss tell the class their opinions about future plans for jobs. T checks their gramar. (use of when, if, after, before)   20 minutes 

 

Assessment: T helps Ss detect their mistakes and posible 

 20 min.

Activate 1: students describe the person they admire the most using the vocabulary about personality.

Study: Students scan 4 texts related to people´s personalities and underline the words related to it.

Activity 2: Students read the text and answer comprehension questions about it.

Assessment: Students choose one of the text as model to write about them. Teacher helps students to correct it and then they load it up in the platform with a picture of the draft.
