  What is learned about Maya and the conflict that is faced in lines 1-14 is that she came to America because of her aunt.  Her aunt, Madina Zhamejakova, had started to read international dating magazines after Maya’s grandmother had passed.  Maya’s grandmother was the head of the family. After she had passed, chaos started to arise.   

  Maya’s aunt had met someone who resided in America.  Now Maya and her family live in America.
