In 1945 the Spratlys and Paracels were given to the China Republic because of Japan's Surrender.

With Trump winning the election both Trump and Xi JinPing have had a rocky relationship with each other. China has also said that e U.S has been sending warships to islands such as Spratly Islands. Even though China has said they're only using this Island for maritime trade and civilian use there have been spottings on satellite images of military equipment. Another satellite picture shows that Spratly has added more than 3,200 acres of land and seven territories that surround the area. The same satellite picture that shows 3,200 acres of land shows weapons on the island even though it was said to be used for civilian use.
