I always love books with multiple viewpoints, and this book does a GREAT job of storytelling with that. Ruta Sepetys is my favorite author because of this book, and how well she writes about histories that are not as well-known.

I had to read 1984 by George Orwell in high school for AP Seminar, and it became one of my favorite books during that summer. In my opinion, it is a great mix of genres, but in a way also felt like it could still be connected to today.

Wonder by R.J Palacio. Wonder tells an amazing story and shows how the world should view people like not only about how they are on the inside, but how they look on the outside aas well.

While I absolutely love adult books, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane will always be my favorite children's novel. My Mom and I used to read this book every night before bed, I wrote NUMEROUS essays on this book all throughout high school, and I just love how Kate DiCamillo paints this story. It will definitely have a place in my classroom.

Dinner for Vampires is my most recently read memoir. Bethany Joy Lenz did a beautiful job at not only encapsulating her experience, but the experiences of others who she knew and had similar experiences. It was serious yet funny and a page-turner!

My favorite book is the Outsiders. The first time I read this book was in the 6th grade in a class full of students that were not totally intrigued nor excited about reading a chapter book. But as the chapters went on i and most students in the class shifted their priority to being fully invested into the novel. At the end of the book we watched the movie and compared and contrasted the story. This was the first time i noticed a class get fully invested in a novel and lead to me wanted to dive deep into more books.
