Learning Objective:

To learn that there are different kinds of computers we use every day.

To practice using Google Slides to type, add pictures, and change backgrounds.

What We Did:

Students learned that just like there are different types of plants, there are also different types of computers such as a Laptop, Desktop, iPad, and Mobile.

They worked in Google Slides and learned how to:

Type the names of different computers.

Change the slide layout.

Go to the Background, choose Insert Image, and search for pictures of different computers.

Click on the picture they liked and press Insert and Done.

They enjoyed finding pictures and creating their own slides while learning how to use the mouse and keyboard carefully.

Homework:

Students can practice making a new slide in Google Slides:

Type the name of one type of computer.

Find and insert a picture of it.

Save their work and share it in the homework folder link given.

Step-by-Step Google Slides Task

Click the link given in the padlet, to open Google Slides.

Find and click the “NEW +” button to start a new presentation.

Go to Google Slides and select “Create and share.”

On the first slide, type your name with the first letter as a capital.

In the next text box, type today’s date.

Move your mouse to the top where it says “Untitled Presentation” and click inside it. Type your name so your presentation is saved with your name.

Click the “+” symbol to add a new slide.

Use the “Layout” menu to change the slide to blank.

Click “Background,” choose “Image,” and then select “Google Images.”

Type “computer” and press the Enter key to search for a computer picture—this represents a man-made machine.

Select one image and click “Insert” to put the picture on your slide.

Repeat the steps to add new slides. On each, find and insert images of natural things, such as a tree, flower, or animal
