NAME : Ahmad Wildan Bin Ahmad Nawawi

I am currently a first-year, first-semester student at Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Embarking on my journey in legal education, I am deeply passionate about the study of law and motivated by a strong desire to understand and contribute to justice and societal development.

I have a keen interest in legal research, often dedicating my time to exploring complex legal issues and broadening my understanding of different legal systems and frameworks. I find great fulfillment in analyzing legal concepts and their practical applications, and I am always eager to deepen my knowledge through both academic and independent research initiatives.

Outside of my academic life, I maintain a balanced lifestyle by engaging in sports, which helps me stay active and disciplined. I also take initiative to work during my free time to gain financial independence and valuable life experience. This blend of academic focus, physical activity, and practical responsibility reflects my commitment to personal growth and holistic development.

SELF REFLECTION

Participating in Usrah this semester has been an enriching spiritual journey that deepened my understanding of Islamic teachings and principles. Through the discussions and lessons, I have gained clearer insights into the core elements of Islam, particularly the Arkanul Iman (Pillars of Faith) and Arkanul Islam (Pillars of Islam). This experience has strengthened not only my faith but also my sense of responsibility as a Muslim student.

Each of the six Arkanul Iman—belief in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Day of Judgment, and divine decree (Qada’ and Qadar)—was discussed in detail. I was reminded of the importance of having complete faith in Allah’s existence and His oneness; the roles of angels in recording deeds; the guidance found in divine scriptures; the noble examples set by the prophets; the accountability of the Hereafter; and the wisdom behind Allah’s decree. These core beliefs have helped me reflect deeply on my daily actions and intentions.

Additionally, the exposure to Hadith studies and engaging group discussions helped me better appreciate the richness of Islamic knowledge and its relevance in our modern context. Through sharing reflections and asking critical questions, I realized that seeking knowledge is a lifelong duty. Overall, Usrah has been a meaningful platform for both spiritual growth and intellectual engagement, and I am grateful for the opportunity to strengthen my Islamic identity in such a supportive environment.

GROUP DISCUSSION

One of the most impactful activities during our Usrah session was the group role-play on the topic of honoring our parents. This activity allowed us to creatively express the values and teachings of Islam regarding filial piety through realistic scenarios. It encouraged collaboration, critical thinking, and empathy, as we explored different ways to show respect, gratitude, and care for our parents in both words and actions. By acting out situations from daily life—such as helping at home, listening patiently, or supporting them emotionally—we were reminded that honoring our parents is not just a duty, but an ongoing act of love and devotion.

Through this role-play, I was able to reflect deeply on my own relationship with my parents and how I can improve in showing appreciation for their sacrifices. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasized the importance of treating our parents with kindness, and this activity brought that teaching to life in a practical and memorable way. It was a powerful reminder that being a good Muslim includes being a good son or daughter, and that small acts of respect and service can carry great spiritual value.
