1. The Judicial Branch (Supreme Court) checks Congress by declaring a law unconstitutional. Such laws could be trying to place a tax on a certain population of people or preventing people to vote.
2.The way Congress checks the Judicial Branch is by having the power to confirm the appointees (by the president) who want to become a judge in the Supreme Court. This way no one who has a radical mindset can impact how the laws of the nation are interpreted.
3. The president is the "commander in chief" and can direct the military wherever he pleases. To partake in a war and put money into the efforts it would need to be approved by Congress. This has the power to prevent the president from plundering and conquering territory.

Amendments

I think the two most important amendments are the 1st and 15th amendments. I think the 1st amendment is important because it gives everyone a freedom to express themselves however they please. I feel that this allows and encourages a diverse and progressive culture. I also feel that this type of culture leads to a more balanced society. I think the 15th amendment is of equal importance to the 1st amendment because once slaves were freed they weren't able to be represented in the government. This amendment paved the way for minorities to be represented and have their voice heard.

Constitutional Reform

One of the proposals to fix issues in the Constitution was to revisit and change some of the amendments to suit the time that we live in. This is a possible theory, but the Founding Fathers made it difficult to change amendments. They partially did this prevent any massive overhaul to the Constitution which could have a negative impact on the well-being of the United States. An unintended of consequence of mending the amendments is providing stability to the nation. If it was very easy to change amendments then the laws of the country would not be solid possibly causing discord among the population.
