Unfortunately we cannot operate two salons simultaneously so we can only dream of space.
What we can do is use the Holistics room which has 11 functioning beds which will make it easier. A rota can be made for students if they want to massage two clients.

At the moment there are no plans to close college but it looks like the situation is escalating so I will keep you updated. The plan for tomorrow is a little joint action and then a Mock paper. We may well finish earlier than 9pm but as luck would have it we cant go to the pub!

Due to the ongoing challenges and uncertainty in relation to COVID-19, the College has taken the decision to suspend face to face teaching and learning to students across all campuses from 4.30pm this Friday.

In view of the current guidelines, this will take effect immediately (Thursday 19 March) for our vulnerable Independent Living Skills students.

From Monday 23 March, we will move formally to online learning and remote delivery only.

At present, we intend to keep our campuses open from next week only for staff who wish to come in to undertake further lesson preparation and some business support work. Staff who are able to work remotely are encouraged to do so.

Our priority over the coming days and weeks will be supporting our students and staff as we make this transition.

We thank you for your continuing patience and cooperation at a very difficult time.

"All EPA (end-point assessment) bookings for March, April and May will now be postponed until at least June 2020. VTCT will be accepting bookings for the month of June, however, please be aware that that depending on circumstances and government guidelines these may be subject to change."
I think they are being over optimistic!! Hopefully they will see this and decide on a definite plan.

Nothing new to go over - I've just looked at the Theoretical case study and it's fairly self-explanatory. If you are ok with everything then carry on with the assessments. If you want to review past work/ powerpoints/ case studies then I will be online at 6pm. This goes for Wednesday as well. At the moment there is still no cast iron directive from VTCT - last week's webinar was pathetic and felt like pre-recorded. No new news I'm afraid, the course is in the adaption group but until we get to talk to our EQA I cant say for certain the exact format. I believe the exam will be a written worksheet and that the obs/ case study write ups will be enough evidence - watch this space........again!

Sorry for the urgency but can you txt back with how much of your case studies you have completed - I know some have been sent in. Each CS1,2&3 should have 4 treatment sheets 2 of which were undertaken in college - in theory! So if all of CS1 has been completed txt CS1 - 4/4 similar for other two. I now have another spreadsheet to complete by the end of the day!!

There is a webinar with VTCT tomorrow at 4pm so we are hoping for more specific information regarding our courses but until we get to speak to our EQA nothing final as yet. VTCT are going with a 70% completion rule across both theory and practical. Theory shouldn't be a problem since we are working to complete all, although I may ask some to prioritise any missing work if it needs to be sampled. For the practical you will need to have evidence of two out of the three case studies - again most have. For the exam I will more than likely give you a mock paper to complete and send back - it may take too long to convert to a Forms quiz! Time frames I'm not sure - I have two dates although it will more than likely be the end of August at the outside. I'll be online this evening to answer any queries as usual.

News just in....
Update! All work that has been internally verified will be uploaded to the EQA by the end of next week with a decision expected in early September. I have assurances that both courses will be in the first batch of work submitted. Once we have the ok you will be sent a letter stating you have passed and are awaiting the certificate.

No news on the assessments yet -sorry folks.
The college has, however, opened up the Part time enrollment for the new year. So if you were thinking of doing the Level 4 it is now a two part process which involves going to the L4 course page on the GCS website and hitting the "Request a telephone interview" button. This will then send me an "Expression of interest" email. I am then supposed to give you a call for a chat then approve you! Although there is no obligation to take up the place if you feel it's not right. At least this process will flag up potential students so will help plan the sessions in the treatment room.

VTCT should be assessing work next week!!!!

We appear to have been given another EQA to assess the work, this is not down to any issues just workloads at VTCT - and a distinct lack of communication! We have again have two meetings with staff at VTCT next week to register our frustration and anger (again!) at the way in which you, as a group (with L4), have been treated. It's unbelievable that we will have a viable vaccine against covid in a shorter time then it takes VTCT to check the work!!

Whoop and holla! I had it confirmed this afternoon in a video meeting to the new EQA that she has looked at your work and has released your award - you have passed!!!!! The college can now claim your certificates and hopefully soon you will have them! Congratulations all, you thoroughly deserve it. I will be in touch....
