Assistive Technology is previously defined to be useable tools such as programs, websites, and software for individuals with disabilities. Assistive technology can also be split between two different techs, which are low and high tech. Some examples of high-tech assistive technology are hearing aids, screen readers, and text-to-speech. Some examples of low-tech assistive technology are walking canes, fidget tools, and adapted pencils. (Chazen)

Assistive Technology is important to education and the classroom because it supports and provides assistance to students when it comes to learning. The use of AT can give students with disabilities tools to use to grasp the different education concepts needed for their development. This technology also is unique to each child with a disability providing the tools needed for them to be their best learning self. (Considering Assistive)

Differentiated Instruction is teachers developing new lesson plans or changing activities based on the specific needs of each child. The change of certain activities by the teacher provides an opportunity to get the instruction across to the child that might be confused. This can be done by changing the materials used, the change in the academic environment, or scrapping the unsure lesson plan to benefit the different needs of students.

One example of differentiated instruction is by placing a child in a quiet calm environment to focus on their work if the classroom is too distracting. A second example is placing students in pairs to come up with ideas if one student struggles to come up with ideas on their own. A third example is adding more time for students to complete activities or assignments. (What Is, 2022)

Differentiated Instruction is important to education and the classroom because it opens educators to different types of learners. It requires teachers to think outside of the box to provide the needed instruction children need to understand to increase their development. As well as welcome the classroom to diverse learners such as children with disabilities or dual language learners by adapting to what each child needs to be successful. (Differentiated Instruction, 2022)
