The Civil Rights Movement was about having universal rights for all people, regardless of race. Before the 1960’s, African Americans were discriminated for their race and were segregated amongst whites. They were segregated in places like restaurants, bathrooms, schools, buses, and even Movie theaters. They also had to live in separate neighborhoods. One day, cases like Linda Brown, and Rosa Parks changed so many things about the discrimination against African Americans. The biggest turning point was Martin Luthers protest, speech, and his role in the Bus Boycott. People often feel threatened by change, but once you can accept the way things should be, it isn’t as scary anymore.

Civil Rights: A Kid-Friendly Explainer | BrainPOP - YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com › watch

Segregation was common in the Southern states. In 1909, a group of campaigners created the NAACP. Their goal-to increase racial equality. Also, the KKK. (Ku Klux Klan) grew larger. One day in a black woman named Rosa Parks decided she was not going to give up her seat to a white man, which led to her being arrested. This led to the Montgomery bus boycott in 1955. Martin Luther King Jr was also an activist in the civil rights movement, who gave speeches and led marches about equal rights.

https://youtu.be/WKEGou1zPII

Link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ppTiyxFSs0

The civil rights movement was an organized effort where African-Americans united and rallied to put black progressiveness at the forefront of a nation that sought to minimize and revoke rights.

Many cite 1954 as the beginning of the movement, with the landmark case Brown v. Board of Education. The civil rights movement continued to gain momentum with strategic decisions by leaders, like Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rosa Parks. President Lyndon B. Johnson also signed multiple pieces of legislation, and each move contributed to expanded success for black rights nationally. While some people mark Dr. King’s death as the end of the movement, others recognize it as a major shift.

The civil rights movement was one of the most influential eras in American history. African Americans experienced many prejudiced actions against them and soon enough things started too work in their favor. They were refused service in many public places. One of the biggest influences on the Civil Rights movement were the peaceful protests of Martin Luther King Jr. Because of all the discourse in America, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed. This law impacted American history in such a big way, and gave people hope for their future.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2TRl3lMr5k
