    September 11, 1961 - The first U.S. televised documentary about homosexuality airs on a local station in California

    June 28, 1969 - Police raid the Stonewall inn which led people to protest and riot. This is known as one of the most significant moments in the gay civil rights movement in the U.S.

    1973 - Lambda Legal became the first legal organization that would stand up for the equal rights of gay and lesbian people
