         <title>Ordovician-Silurian mass extinction </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Was the third largest of the five major extinction events. This was the second biggest extinction of marine life, more than 60 per cent of marine invertebrates died. The cause appears to have been the continental drift of a significant landmass into the south polar region, causing a global temperature drop, glaciation, and consequent lowering of the sea level, which destroyed species' habitats around the continental shelves. This glaciation event also caused a lowering of sea level  worldwide. The extinction occurred 443.7 million years ago and over around 100 marine families became extinct. Covering about 49% of faunal (animal) and brachiopods and bryozoans were decimated, along with many of the trilobite, conodont and graptolite families.          <description><![CDATA[<div>   It is considered to be a prolong marine biotic crisis extending for 20-25 million years and punctuation by 8-10 extinction events. One event was the Kellwasser Event&nbsp; that accounted for the extinction of about 20% of all animal families and 70-80% of all animal species. The Hangeberg event accounted for about 16% percent of marine families.          <description><![CDATA[<div>This extinction is considered one of the worst extinctions. It wiped out 90% of sea species and 70% of vertebrate animal species on land. It also stripped Earth of many rooted plants causing severe erosion.  No one knows what the cause of the extinction was but there is many theory to it. Some suspect it to be a comet or asteroid impact. Others believe it to be floods of lava from the Siberian traps and related loss of oxygen in the seas.          <title>Cretaceous-Tertiary mass extinction</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>It occurred 65 million years ago at the end of the cretaceous period. Non avian dinosaurs and vertebrates including the flying pterosaurs went extinct. Also important marine invertebrate also went extinct. Some examples of marine invertebrate that went extinct were ammonite, gryphaeid, and inoceramide. The cause of this event was an asteroid that was 10 kilometers(6 miles long). It caused dust clouds that would cover the entire planet.
