This is the job description for the network systems technician, or what the person holding this job description can be fully expected to do for us. While it is from 2001 and specifics of tech has changed such as dial-up maintenance, it can still be a good reference point. For instance networks may no longer be dial-up but it is reasonable to ask they help maintain wifi connectivity with the spirit of the duty.
