Does the process of looking for art change anything about the way you move or interact with the world? As you recorded what you saw, did your connection to the world change in any way?

The process of looking for art in my daily life changed how I interacted and saw the world. Wherever I went I was constantly looking for things that stood out that could be artistically deep and moving without trying to be. My mindset was set on finding the perfect “thing” to be considered art. But, as I kept looking around I realized that everything around us has some sort of accidental artistic meaning. I enjoyed taking pictures of my dorm room and finding pieces that have usually looked so ordinary. After changing my intention and perspective though, it was easier to appreciate those little artworks and overall appreciate the world around me much more. Especially living in Austin, there are so many unique restaurants or nature walks to explore. At the end of the day, I was much more grateful to be surrounded by a city with so much visual art.

How are the types of visual art you encounter daily different from one another? How could we categorize the art you found in your daily life?

The two places I mostly found my art were out and about in Austin, or just in my dorm room. I feel like I was focusing more on the beauty of the nature around me in the city and how natural objects, like trees or the sunrise, create such a unique image. While, in my dorm room, I was looking mostly at the decor I had picked out myself to display a meaning. I had placed or switched out certain objects to change how my space looked and felt. The different types of visual art I was finding ranged from organically placed to very intentionally placed. Both created very pretty and meaningful visual art.
