I’m Rie, from Japan. As I cannot attend the CULTNET meeting, this activity could be very helpful and useful for me.
2) In Japan, though the number of foreign residents are increasing, Japanese people do not have chances to talk with them. So, I use movies which focus on something intercultural in my seminar.
1) In my English classes I use textbooks which have some cultural topics and students can start to learn about different cultures.
2) In my English classes, I also implement international Project-Based Learning, Flat Stanley, with my students. They can exchange pictures and short messages on a Padlet. Most Japanese students, except majoring in English related themes, do not have high proficiency of English. So I think they can enjoy this project and raise their awareness of different cultures.
