I work at Ace Hardware. When working up front, every cashier is required to ask every customer "Are you an Ace Rewards member?" I have realized this question benefits many. Some customers find this question annoying while others find it quite helpful. The Ace Rewards Program not only helps our customers find great sales and coupons, but employees and owners benefit from it as well. This past Christmas my branch was announced as highest tier in our customer service system. Because of this my coworkers and I received rather large bonuses along with additional benefits as well. The famous question "Are you an Ace Rewards Member?" is worth while (even if people think it's annoying).

I love the brainstorming concept of group-decision making. This is because anyone can state any idea they want, no matter how ridiculous it may sound. Another great idea that is tied into brainstorming is that there is no negative comments or feedback given, only encouraging and effective critiques. This way the end result benefits not only finding a solution, but lifting others up and making them feel valued. This is an important concept that organizations should adopt to strengthen the employees as individuals and the organizational culture.

At American Express they have come up with creative ways to lower absenteeism and increase employee motivation. To do this they reward customers by words of affirmation, prizes, and promotion/pay raises. One of the cool events American Express has to enforce the company's values includes Tribute meetings. Tribute meetings are where improved employees are interviewed in "Oprah chairs" and everyone participates in fun games and contests.

As I began to read Chapter 17 I had no idea how complex management control or any type of control in a organization. It was interesting to learn the purpose behind the details of each step in the control process and the result of it. It became easier to understand the breakdown of the process when the book used General Electric as a real life example.

Information Systems are obviously very helpful for an organization to collect data, but organizations must realize that they can use social media to their advantage. The book discussed the idea of using social media platforms briefly, which I thought the book could have gone deeper into it. A company can not only advertise their brand or product but collect popular opinion and reviews of their product and their competitors product from different social media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat.

Just In Time Inventory, also known as JIT, has become somewhat popularized. When reading about JIT and using the resources needed around only when needed reminded me of my best friend Cora. Cora has built up a small jewelry pop-up store. She makes earrings, necklaces, and other accessories with small materials she can find around the house and only makes the jewelry when ordered. It costs her almost nothing and makes much profit from the small business.
