On November 9, 1989, the wall in Berlin fell as the Cold War began to thaw across Eastern Europe, the spokesman for East Berlin’s Communist Party announced a change in his city’s relations with the West. Starting at midnight that day, he said, citizens of the GDR were free to cross the country’s borders. The berlin wall was a large concrete wall that divides Berlin. The days after the wall was taken down people from western berlin came through to celebrate the barrier splitting berlin coming down. That period in time was about the people of berlin tearing down the wall that separated them. It was a time of war going on to peace and reunification. People those days were excited for the wall to go and for east and west berlin to be together. They would be thinking about the future for berlin where there isn’t war and separation. People would care about this event because it would change the future for berlin.

When the soviet union was created Germany split into two parts the east and the west, the west allied with the united states and the east with the soviet union. This caused Germany to split and the berlin wall was built. Less than a year after the berlin wall was taken down Germany reunited on a day that is now celebrated in Germany as Unity day. Shortly after the berlin wall came down western Germany, eastern Germany, the united states, and the soviet union looked into the reunification of Germany. That period in time was peaceful and it was about reuniting Germany. People would have felt happy and excited for the future of reunited Germany. People cared about this event because it meant that their country was coming back together. This impacted their lives because it meant they had safe passage all across Germany and they could be together again.

The Soviet Union, as the new political entity was known, called for the world Communist revolution in the name of the international working class and advocated, in its propaganda, the eventual disappearance of national, cultural, religious, and economic distinctions. December 26, 1991, was when the Soviet Union fell/collapsed. After the collapse of the soviet union officially ended the 40 year-long cold war between the Soviet Union and America. And while the collapse of the Soviet Union ended the cold war, the berlin wall came down and Germany reunited it also threw eastern Europe into a tailspin and weakened the Russian government. That period in time involved political corruption. It was a time of war and destruction heading towards peace because the soviet union was falling apart but that meant the end of the cold war. I would guess that the people in those days were going from scared and worried to safe at last. If I was in that period of time I would be worried about my present to make sure I am safe at the moment and whether I will be safe in the future. People cared about this event because it affected a lot of people's lives and safety and so the downfall would have changed that.
