Inside the dome they are only allowed to stay inside the dome. They can't leave the dome unless they work on the outside or for work. They are stuck inside the dome, not allowed to leave. For example in the story, " If it hadn't been for Grandfather, the employees of InfiniCorp would have suffered the same fate as the rest of the world: if they'd survived the great sickness after all, they'd still be scrounging in the desert wilderness, trying to survive in the scorching heat," (Peter Hughes 35). This quote shows that the people who live in the dome would not be able to leave if they wanted to because of the weather outside. This is why the people who live in the dome are trapped.

Inside the dome everyone is watched. There are camera and robots everywhere, be ready to either clean up or take someone away. " A thickest girl with flashing purple eyebrow enhancers, she was watching the pedestrian traffic with one finger pressed on the InfiniTalk in her ear" (Hughes 13). The quote comes to show that there is always someone or something watching everyone at all times. Also that proves that it is very hard to do things in privacy with everyone watching.

In the novel, Crack In The Sky, the author creates a world that is feared of the outside world, which is an aspect of the dystopian genre. the book starts out with Eli Papadopolous in his room and he hears a slight rumbling in the distance, He tells people around him how he saw a piece of the glass shard of while the rumbling was still happening. the book states, "I see nothing peculiar, Dr. Toffler said. Im sure it was just part of cloud-advertisement. No it wasnt could-vertisement! Im telling you something exploded! The droids head swiveled back, its optical sensors fixing on eli. Dr Toffer was so old that the rubber at its joints had almost worn away, exposing the wires that ran up its neck and the steel rodes at its elbows and knees."(Hughes 9) this qoute shows how Eli is scared of the otside world because of the feared he showed in the sentence. Also This is very scarier for them beacuse they dont know what's on the outside.

In the book A Crack in the Sky, the world seems perfect. There are so many great things but people don't see what's going on because it may seem perfect but that doesn't mean it is.

The author states "Her eyes were open but she was obviously dead Nobody said a word moments later the clean-up robots came and cleaned it up."

This shows how they make everybody think it's amazing by using holograms cleaning robots and other methods of hiding the truth. The reason this appears perfect is that they hide it so well. In this place, they all have never seen death really but there is plenty of death here but they are making it seem perfect. That is why the world seems perfect

In the novel A Crack in the Sky, the setting is a futuristic environment in a dome with robots holograms, and extremely advanced tech. The text further explains this by stating "With her fake DNA pads in place she set her fingertips on the infinicredit square." (Hughes 79) this shows how futuristic this world is by how they set everything up to be DNA activated. This may allow you to get into your house with the DNA sensors. In this case, they used it for something else. They also have counterfeit DNA pads so you can disguise yourself as someone else. This shows just how futuristic this world is because all of this stuff is so advanced. In the novel A Crack in the Sky, the setting is a very futuristic environment.

In our book the setting would be closely to be a perfect world. The bubble keeps everyone away from the outside world, keeps them safe there is no hunger, and there is a place for everyone. " Don't worry! InfiniCorp is taking care of everything!" (Hughes 12). In the quote it proves and shows that robots take care of everything so you don't have to do anything and its like controlling.

In the book A Crack in the Sky, the rules are very different than in our society. The one big rule is that you can't leave the dome the community "Eli lives in doesn't allow people in or out of the dome in fear of outsiders and everyone thinks it's boring out there."(Hughes 33)This shows how no one takes interest in anything outside of the dome further enhancing the fact that no one is allowed outside of the dome because of their low interest levels they have this rule for protection so it is like a prison there. In the book A Crack in the Sky the rules differentiate vastly from our society.

In the dome they live in, they have this rule they must follow which is they can't go outside the dome. For an example " The transport would fly the four of them out beyond the Providence dome, and Eli would gaze down through the window, from high in the air outside looked bleak and empty"(Hughes 33). In the quote it shows that he could kind of see outside the dome but it looked empty and bleak and that they send robots to do everything and go they could only go outside the dome. But in our world we don't live in a dome and we don't have robots coming and flying around cleaning everything up for us instead of letting us, the books society is secretive and strict about the outside world.

In the book, A Crack in the Sky the overall mood is mad. "The one afternoon Eli and Marilyn had a fight, which was rare for them, and Eli decided to go for a walk to cool down. Shoulders hunched up, he headed up hope street with his fists thrust deep in his trouser pockets" ( Hughes 133). This proves that Eli is really mad because him and Marilyn got into a fight. This proves that the mood in this area of the book is mad and that Eli is mad at Marilyn for a little argument that wasn't that bad, the way you can tell the mood is mad is when it says shoulders hunched and he is walking with his hands in a fist in his trouser pockets.

Sky malfunctions were supposed to be rare, and yet This wasn't the first time in recent days that he'd seen something troubling up there.

He felt again this vague dread that had been growing inside him for weeks," (Hughes 8). This shows how rare sky malfunctions are in the dome. its a custom for them to not have them in this book, which is way different then our rules and customs.

In the book, Crack in the Sky, The book places itself as a utopia, even though people don't know what is going on behind the scenes. For example, it says, " The infini-corp logo-a crowd of smiling faces protected in the palm of a strong, gentle hand-was everywhere: on every store window, every trash-disposable tube, every shopping bag. and just below each logo was a company slogan in thick, purple letters: DON'T WORRY! INFINICORP IS TAKING CARE OF EVERYTHING!"(Hughes twelve). This shows how they are trying to make it a utopia, taking care of everything. this also shows how they are trying to hide bad things from society and keep the good things up and running.

In they book , A crack in the sky, The mood is frightened. " Welcome to the east side, my friends! Welcome to where the party lasts all day and celebrating never ends! Eli stood, frozen. It was a few seconds before he even breathed," (Hughes 137). This shows how scared Eli is scared. Hes in this mood because of how fast the bubble was. He got onto it for less than 5 seconds and he is already on the east side of town. this had scared him because he had never rode one before and it was his first time ever.
