The main character Adelita is a Mexican girl who is left with her cruel stepmother and sisters after the passing of her father. There is not a pumpkin coach or glass slipper, but readers are left with  traditional Mexican cultural details that provide insight into Adelita or in Spanish Cenicienta. This book will also be under the Multicultural Thematic Unit under traditional literature/fairy tales because it provides a different cultural narrative of Cinderella.
