The Assassination of the Archduke - June 28, 1914

On June 28, 1914 Archduke Franz Ferdinand was parading in his carriage with his wife Sophie who was the duchess of hohenberg. Moments before he was almost assassinated by a bomb but was missed by it and was shot by two bullets shot by Gavrilo Princip.

This caused Austria-Hungary to declare war on Serbia and Europe. These events created the first ever world war, meaning that many weren't prepared because they first all thought it was going to be an easy battle and would return home in a few months.

Battle of Somme on July 1, 1916

The battle of the Somme was a battle that was fought by the British and french against the German empire. It began July 1st through November 18 1916

It was one of the bloodiest battles in history and it was the battle costed the most. It was a turning point for the germans because they lost against the allied powers.

U.S Joins- April 4, 1917

The U.S. didn't want to join the war but after the found out about the Zimmerman telegraph they decided to join. It affected people because many weren't working and they were running out of resources and the government needed money for the war.
Many of the americans supported the war and many joined to be apart of the war and became nurses and soldiers. This even helped women get the right to vote but also increased the racism in America.

Russia leaving War- March 3, 1918

The russians became a communist government and became the bolsheviks. The Bolsheviks made Germany sign a peace treaty that they would leave the war.

The communist government named Russia the soviet union. The germans transported thousands of soldiers to the western front and they began an offensive.

100 Day Offensive - August 8, 1918-November 11, 1918

The alliances attacked against germany once again. Germans were pushed out of france and had to retreat back to germany

The germans where pushed out of war and the alliance won. This made Germany be seen as the enemies to the world and soon would be left without resources.

Treaty of Versaille - June 28, 1919

The peace conference that was held in the palace of Versailles in France was to discuss how to regain their rights. Most countries where invited but few weren't.

The outcome of this was very harsh for the germans and everyone made them take full responsibility on it all even if it wasn't true. they limited there weapons and how many men can be in their military and having them in debts for many years.
