Curipod AI Presentation Software

AI driven presentation software for Grades k-12. This software can make all different types of slides, either from the inputs of the user or the system data uploaded from the developers. The system also uses all forms of engagement and data driven instructional technology to allow for instant feedback and standards curriculum driven content. As the program grows it gains more knowledge, resources and tools for all educational needs.

Description of how the tools could be used in the classroom to reinforce skills and concepts in your content area

Any presentation delivered instruction can now be interactive with the students and the data collected can easily help collect information for formative and basic summative assessments. The software also allows for uploads from other presentation tools and uses AI to enhance and engage the students. The software also uses a basic random pin number for each presentation for students to login and engage with the slides.

Appropriate use for diverse learners

The use of this technology also allows for anonymity when logging in. Special goofy names are used and only the teacher will see the real names of the students. This allows for more confidence in a safe nurturing environment. All types of learners will be able to answer different types of questions, assessments, and interactive lessons with belief that they will not be judged. This is very important for diverse learners.

Benefits and limitations of the tools

The software is still very basic and young. There are still no notes for slides, no transitional software, and the backgrounds and creativity is intermediate at best. The AI software is also still learning, even though the ability to input the standards, grade level, and types of learners gives the AI a lot of information the slides provided are a start. The teacher is still needed to complete their presentations and provide the content needed for a full lesson.

Microsoft Office 365 Suite

Description of tools

Suite of tools including Word and Excel. These allow for a lot of different uses but more importantly great for business and ELA necessities.

Applicable grade levels for tools

All grade levels/k-12 and post secondary.

Description of how the tools could be used in the classroom to reinforce skills and concepts in your content area

In my business classes we do not just teach the students how to use this program but get them certified by 2nd year. This tool reinforces literacy, technology use, math, communication skills, and organizational cases. This programing software is a suite of products that rival Google, it also has fantastic presentation software enhancing an doubling down on communication skills and the visual representation of reports and data. Microsoft also incorporates all its products together using excel in the data of presentations and word with graphic organizers. With the right training and knowledge students can hone their skills across the spectrum and get a leg up on employment competition since this is a question ask a lot in most indeed applications.

Appropriate use for diverse learners

Very simply this product and software is not biased and does not care who uses it. It is made to create great presentations, write clear and concise communications, find mathematical equations and collect data, and correspond with clients, individuals and businesses. Diversity means nothing to a product like this.

Benefits and limitations of the tools

The major downfall to a tool like this is its cost and continuous needs for updates and patches. It also is in major competition with Google which provides a much better framework and basic use for beginners where Microsoft has a learning curve to get used to. Microsoft teams is much harder to use than say Google Classroom, and One drive has had many issues compared to Google Drive. If one can get by the limitations the program has much better advanced options and abilities than its competition.

Gimkit Gaming and Assessment Software

This software is a gaming assessment type program. Students are able to create a character and use it in 2d and 3d game modes. Some games are solo and many are group style. Games like Snowball fight, zombies, the floor is lava, jeopardy, and even collaborative escape the ship imposter type games. The way to gain energy, or items, or ways to win each game are dependent on quiz like assessments called kits. These kits can be created from scratch or collaborated with different teachers, allowing great data from the questions and answers but with a game element that does puts the kids in a headspace that they are not taking a test. This program is mainly for 3-8th grades, but can be used for all if a teacher wanted to.

Description of how the tools could be used in the classroom to reinforce skills and concepts in your content area

No matter the content area, kits can be made for any lesson. It is great for primary subjects; Math, ELA, Science, and History, but does not stop there. I have used this in my theatre and business classes as the requirements for some assessments. Setting the expectations that this is still a grade and their scoring matters but taking into account teamwork, collaboration, and team wins. The competition element puts many on board with trying a little bit harder to win the game and score well.

Appropriate use for diverse learners

All types of students love to play games. I personally noticed students that had no interest in any part of my class would jump on Gimkit and play it non-stop. They might have been unengaged in my lessons but they had to answer questions I create for content which means I am still getting something out of them. I have noticed that this technology is great for Ex-Ed students because they usually love to play games and can immerse themselves in it. There is also a collaboration affect that takes away all diversifications of students and puts them on equal playing ground and abilities.

Benefits and limitations of the tools

There are many benefits to gaming software. Most kids love to play Fortnight, Minecraft, or Call of Duty. They love to level up, gain skins and rewards, and make their own characters. Most students also love to play games with others and show off their winnings too. This software allows for a lot of this. There is still a "little kid" element to it that removes it from the high grades and older students, but this is light compared to its benefits. It also can not be used all the time or the newness and fun can be stifled by repetitiveness of the small number of games on the system right now. Gimkit did just add a creative mode though, which is still new. This allows the students to make their own game, world, and kits to play with their friends.

Knowledge Matter Virtual Development Software

Description of tools

Virtual engagement software for business, marketing, retail, restaurants, and large corporations. This software is perfect for businesses students giving them virtual real life scenarios to work through with standards and lesson plans included.

Applicable grade levels for tools

9-12 grade CTE, Business, Trade students

Description of how the tools could be used in the classroom to reinforce skills and concepts in your content area

This tool is fantastic for reinforcement and real life virtual training in business. One of the best ones is the Football stadium. This program is like playing SIM city but adding the entire set up of a business with it. This incorporates entire lesson plans, quizzes, reading, math, and content coupled with simulations of each set once done. The students will first work alone one each individual aspect of the business then run the whole thing. They will be graded on the success of the company and the profits made. They will have to sell sponsorships, find advertisers, make advertisements, run concessions, parking, event ticketing and so on, and that is just for the football team stadium set up. This hits all the marks and buttons for any type of user and students get to become part of the fantasy of running multimillion dollar agencies and what it is like to keep up with it. This program checks all the boxes and even has certifications for students who progress outside of the normal simulations and compete with other students across the country in DECA. I am just getting started with this but am very excited with what the capabilities are.

Benefits and limitations of the tools

The main issue with the tool is it takes some time to get used to and trained on. There is a large tutorial that the students have to go through, and the reading and math quizzes can be tough. You are able to supplement those items and just run SIMS but that takes away from the whole process of the program. This program is also very expensive and takes some time for schools to say yes to the cost vs. use case. I get to try this for a year and am hoping it works out well enough to continue it in my classes in the future.

Activity-Gimkit Jeopardy Game

Learning objective for both activities (include grade and subject)

Math/8th grade

Students will incorporate and identify square roots of numbers without using a calculator.

Description of first tech tool

Gimkit incorporates gaming and collaboration technology to assessments. It has a game that is a lot like Jeopardy where students can select questions created by the teacher using kits and with a touch screen smart board each student can give an answer using their chrome books, or any other device that can login and they gain points for correct answers. Winners get some prestige, xp to use in the shop, and bragging rights.

Annotated directions for each of the activities

Students will login to Gimkit using their credentials already created. They will either use the PIN generated by the game or go to the main menu to get into the already predetermined Kit. Once in they will select their powerups and wait for everyone to join and the teacher to start the game. Throughout the game there will be questions about Square roots and mathematical information they will need to answer. Since this lesson is based on square roots without a calculator they will be expected to within a 45 second period to give an answer in various ways. There will be some that are multiple choice and others that are short answer prompts.

Analysis of how activity 1 utilizes technology enhancing the lesson and increase student learning outcomes

This will give them a fun way to review test question information and have some friendly competition. The teacher can provide prizes for each winner and run the game a couple times getting many questions answered. The data provided by the game will give the student and teacher an understanding of their content knowledge and what they might need to practice and study before test day.

I am able to show the content uploaded from the text and give example problems for us to use on the lesson. This would be done before review but can be gone back to multiple times. The students can also engage and interact with the presentation providing more data for the teacher with instant feedback given to the students.

Annotated directions for each of the activities

The students will be given a PIN number at the beginning of the presentation and they will login using it. The teacher will work through the content and slides prompting the students during which time they can interact. There will be all different types of Q and A, Polls, Short and Long answers, and Feedback answers given throughout with formative assessments to complete the presentation. Content will also be through the presentation with verbal feedback and interactions using Turn and Talks and private think time. Coupled together with the technology this provides a 365 degree interactive and engaging assignment.
